What to Watch Tonight: Pretty Little Liars' Halloween Special, Ravenswood's Series Premiere, and Awkward.'s Mid-season Return

What to watch on Tuesday, October 22...

Pretty Little Liars
The girls return briefly to the television DEADule with their annual Halloween SPOOKtacular, “Grave New World.” After uncovering a clue that Ali may be alive, Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer don Edwardian duds and slip into the Ravenswood Founders Day Celebration to investigate. And don’t touch that DIE-al, because this episode also leads in to the debut of spin-off Ravenswood. That’s what we in this business call SINergy. [cue Cryptkeeper cackle]

8pm, The CW
The Originals
Davina persuades Marcel to let her hit the town for a music festival, while Hayley only gets to hit the bayou for an alarming check-up from a shadowy doctor. Elsewhere in “Girl in New Orleans,” Cami lets Klaus in on a surprising piece of her backstory, and Rebekah tries to puzzle out the meaning of an outre incident involving Elijah, which is doubly curious seeing as how Elijah is currently in vamp-stasis in a box.

8pm, CBS
An NCIS crime scene hurtles DiNozzo back to his Baltimore PD days in “Once a Crook,” when a suspect from a 15-year-old case rears his head.

8pm, ABC
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The team travels to Asia to track down a young man with pyrokinetic powers, and the titular “Girl in the Flower Dress” may be able to shed some light on their mission. (She’ll also explain why, due to intellectual property rights issues, it’s unlikely that said young man is short-time X-Man Sunfire.) In this week’s intra-team squabbling, Skye is guarding a secret that lands her in hot water with Coulson & Co.

In the opener of this Pretty Little Liars spin-off, erstwhile Rosewoodite Caleb decides to stay a spell in the eponymous neighboring burg. His plan to lend a hand to new chum Miranda is complicated by inhospitable locals, ominous teens, and all manner of eerie supernatural shenanigans.

9pm, The CW
And speaking of supernatural shenanigans: In “I’m No Angel,” a wayward Castiel is wandering the streets and stumbling upon surprises left and right. Dean and Sam must hurry to retrieve their friend before a swarm of irate angels gets to him first.

9pm, Fox
New Girl
“Keaton” finds the gang staging an elaborate charade to quell Schmidt’s sorrows: catfishing him in the guise of his childhood hero, Michael Keaton. Elsewhere, Jess plans a Halloween bash in the hopes of reconnecting with Cece.

9:30pm, ABC
Trophy Wife
Diane organizes a bodacious ‘80s-themed school fundraiser in “The Tryst,” but Pete and Kate use the occasion to reinvigorate their love life in a truly, truly, truly outrageous way. Back home, Jackie burnishes her online dating profile with some help from the kids.

10pm, CBS
Person of Interest
In “Razgovor,” Shaw develops a kinship with her latest charge, a 10-year-old girl with a penchant for surveillance. At the NYPD, Carter’s anti-HR crusade may hit a major setback.

Snooki & JWoww
So yes, these two still have a reality show, I guess. It’s high-profile enough that I suppose I’m professionally obligated to notify y’all of it. This would be a good time to remind everyone that a program’s appearance in What to Watch Tonight does not necessarily constitute a recommendation that you watch it, or indeed, an endorsement of its right to exist. Proceed accordingly.

“Surprise!” finds Jenna taking pains to conceal her indiscretion with Collin, lest Matty find out and trigger a round of agonized internal monologuing potent enough to knock the world off its very axis.

Trust Me, I’m a Game Show Host
Hosts D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black lead contestants through a game of Two Truths and a Lie, except with one fewer truth. Cash prizes are then bestowed upon the player who best sees through the zany deception.
