What to Watch Tonight: Scandal, Community, and Person of Interest

What to watch on Thursday, April 5...

Hopefully you've been treating your DVR with kindness and respect because tonight you'll wanna be calling in some favors. Lots of stuff to watch, is what I'm saying:

SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, ABC
Scandal
America demanded another procedural about a confident woman and the soft indie-rock tunes which soundtrack her most emotional moments and Producer Shonda Rhimes came through once again! Scandal tells the tale of a former White House communications director who opens a firm that specializes in "crisis management." In tonight's pilot, Kerry Washington's character Olivia will handle a scandal (handal?) centered around no less than the President himself. (Also starring: Desmond from Lost!)

8pm, NBC
Community
In "Pillows and Blankets," the living room war between Abed and Troy reaches its endgame, but not before Jeff and the rest of the gang have to intervene. But don't take it from me... Resident Community-ficionado Tim Surette (who has seen a screener) thinks this episode could be a classic.

9pm, CBS
Person of Interest
Tonight the machine directs Reese toward five different persons of interest, but they're all linked to New York crime families! Is Elias up to something? Reese and Finch aim to find out! (And then afterward: FRO-YO.)

8:30pm, NBC
30 Rock
Tonight Jack will attempt to make Pete over into an ambitious gentleman. Meanwhile Tracy recovers his sense of smell and is magnetically drawn toward Liz's scent, plus Jenna wages war against the writers in a prank war gone too far. I don't know, this whole staff seems really unprofessional to me, what do you think?

10pm, NBC
Awake
Don't be fooled by the charming title, "That's Not My Penguin" promises to be another emotionally harrowing hour of television. In one reality, Michael deals with a mental patient who's threatening to blow up the entire hospital. In the other, he meets his son's new ladyfriend. And in both, the effects of not getting any proper sleep start to catch up with him. Now THAT we can relate to.

10pm, Fox
Touch
In "Kite Strings," a whole new web of people cross paths, including a teenage Iraqi who befriends a U.S. soldier; a lottery winner who meets a sad pastor; and a stranger who used to know Martin's wife. Before she died. Hopefully.
