What to Watch Tonight: Terra Nova's 2-Hour Season Finale, The Closer, and VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul

What to watch on Monday, December 19...

Whoops, it's Monday again! How did that happen? Either way, this could either be a stressful and awful week for you, or it could be chill and NBD. Assuming you aren't going to spend most of tonight stuck in a mall parking lot, make sure and check out these slightly paltry TV offerings!

SEASON 1 FINALE, 8pm, Fox
Terra Nova
Tune in for tonight's 2-hour season (series?) finale, wherein the 11th Pilgrimage arrives/invades and characters find themselves torn between helping the Phoenix Group and thwarting it. Whatever happens, make sure your expectations are sky-high, because this finale is sure to deliver!

SERIES PREMIERE, 8pm, NBC
Who's Still Standing?
Russian Roulette, call your lawyers. In this new game show, contestants compete for a chance at $1 million by answering trivia questions, and incorrect answers get them dropped through a trap door. (Question: How long until that Jeopardy! robot is a contestant?)

9pm, TNT
The Closer
Brenda and the team look into the hit-and-run murder of a girl on a bicycle, but they encounter complications when it looks like the police commissioner and his wife may have been involved. Meanwhile Brenda attempts to save money on heating bills after noticing how many office windows are left open.

ORIGINAL SPECIAL, 8pm, NBC
VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul
Tonight the divas give props to various cities where soul music blossomed, including Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, and London. Tonight's array of brassy scream-singers includes Jessie J, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, and Florence N.D. Machine.

Terra Nova is like that fellow school mate that moves school randomly at some point and you only realize it when people start having some one to pick on. I feel simultaneously disappointed and pleased by it's possibly permanent departure. I'll watch it. Of course I will. I have no backbone when it comes to cheesy, badly executed TV shows.

Terra Nova is the show to watch tonight. I suspect FOX is hoping that come next fall everyone will have forgotten about it so they don't have to renew it.

I learned to set my expectations very low in regards to Terra Nova after the pilot episode. I won't be holding my breath for any "delivery" from this show tonight. It'll just answer my curiosity and then ride off into the "cancelled" sunset minus a tv miracle.

I'm going to miss Terra Nova. Not because it's a good show (it isn't). But because of all the great times we had ripping it apart. There were a few times I was ready to give up on the show, but Tim's hilarious reviews and everybody's acid wit in the comments section kept me coming back. It holds the rare distinction of being the only show I have ever watched for the sole purpose of poking fun.

So long, Terra Nova. I'm going to miss (insulting) you.

Don't worry. Terrible shows like Terra Nova will always be made for our amusement. Just a while ago we were given Charlie's Angels, and some might say that V stood for "vomit inducing". It's like a law of nature. In the same way as weak animals are sometimes born only to be quickly eaten by predators, there are incompetent TV executives who green-light bad shows for us to sink our teeth in. While waiting for the next pile of turd to emerge, I would say that this is an excellent opportunity to brush up your vocabulary of synonyms for horrible, terrible and shit. Of course, not for a second do I doubt your current vocabulary! I'm just saying that it's always good to be prepared with a wide selection of negative adjectives, so that when the next bad show enters the scene, you have your verbal sword sharpened for instant decapitation. (See how my mind is already in GoT mode well in advance.) So don't worry, maybe the next show to deserve our hate is already among the new mid-season shows...if we're lucky.

Eh. Nothing for me. Maybe Fear Factor if I'm bored enough. Maybe the Terra Nova finale if I'm bored of that and feeling even more bored.

Also, the LLS w/ Craig Ferguson, if it's new.

Terra Nova (there better not be a cliffhanger), Ridiculousness, and Conan.

Speaking of Tom Cruise, anyone else see MI-4: Ghost Protocol over the weekend? The IMAX experience was pure adrenaline.

Considering it's Terra Nova, they will probably throw two hours of nonsense at us and just when there's something you WANT to know, they'll make it a cliffhanger. See if they don't ;)
