What to Watch Tonight: Terra Nova's Two-Hour Premiere, Mike & Molly, and the Alphas Finale

What to watch on Monday, September 26...

Don't be sad that it's Monday, there are DINOSAURS on TV tonight! Honestly, if that doesn't get you through the day, I don't know what will. Dinosaurs, you guys!

SERIES PREMIERE, 8pm, Fox
Terra Nova
Dinosaurs. In tonight's two-hour premiere, a convicted felon agrees to relocate his family through space and time in order to help populate a dinosaur-infested patch of jungle. Dinosaurs. Steven Spielberg. Dinosaurs.

SEASON 1 FINALE, 10pm, Syfy
Alphas
In tonight's conclusion to what's been an excellent first season, Red Flag escalates its war on the Department of Defense—and only our beloved heroes stand in the way. Good luck, friendly mutants!

SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, CW
Hart of Dixie
In the worst, most embarrassing setup possible, Rachel Bilson plays a cardiothoracic surgeon (LOL) who travels to Alabama for almost no reason (to become more friendly in order to receive a medical fellowship?) and finds herself in charge of the local clinic there. So many colorful Southern rubes! Alligators! Rachel Bilson as a cardiothoracic surgeon! Must-watch television, basically.

SEASON 2 PREMIERE, 9:30pm, CBS
Mike & Molly
Newly Emmy-minted actress Melissa McCarthy returns to our living rooms tonight when you pop in your new DVD of Bridesmaids. Haha just kidding, she's also on Mike & Molly, still playing a chunky gal with an infectious spirit. Tonight's sitcom contrivance: Molly wants to plan the wedding, but Mike just wants to go fishing with the guys.

SEASON 7 FINALE, 10pm, Showtime
Weeds
After an interesting, hit-or-miss season which saw Nancy Botwin earning an early release from her halfway house and immediately setting up a drug ring in Manhattan, Weeds closes up shop tonight (and forever? No word yet on renewal) with a major confrontation between Nancy and her ambitious dreamboat son, Silas.

ORIGINAL MOVIE, 9pm, Lifetime
The Bling Ring
Did you ever read that amazing Vanity Fair article about The Bling Ring, the gang of Hollywood teens (including the girl from E!'s Pretty Wild) who burgled celebrities like Orlando Bloom and Lindsay Lohan? It was an awesome article! Anyway, tonight that story gets the Lifetime Original Movie treatment, FINALLY.

Only "Two and a Half Men" - not because I ever liked the show, nor do I want to see Ashton Kutcher's second episode. I'm in it for "The Big Bang Theory" crossover!!! I wanted to like "2 Broke Girls", but I found the premiere episode horrendous. I won't be tuning in for any more "Girls."

I'm from and still live in Alabama, so I'm hoping Hart Of Dixie won't be one of those shows that puts the state in a bad light when the main character randomly gets stuck there.. but I'll watch anything with Rachel Bilson in it, atleast until they get offensive by generalizing about all people in the south. No more Hawaii Five-0 for me, I officially gave up after last week's boring premiere, season 1 was good but it's falling into a typical show now.

So much to watch tonight! Hart of Dixie looks really cute even though Rachel Bilson is like the opposite of a doctor. The Lying game and Terra Nova. And The Bling Ring. How will I decide?!

11 episodes is a bit of a strange number of episodes for Alphas. Usually short seasons are 13 or all the way down to 10.

Well, Alphas kind of is a bit of a strange show...sort of unconventional. lol.

Castle, Alphas, and Hart of Dixie. I could see her as a doctor, though. By the way, she goes to Alabama because her dad dies and leaves her his half of the practice. I'd say that is a very big reason to go. After I learned this on the CW Fall Preview show, the show really looked interesting.

Terra Nova will definitely be the one to watch tonight, although it's hard to say if it will have enough story to keep a series going. And it's still possible to make a boring show with dinosaurs (Dinotopia).

I'll also try to catch Hawaii 5-0 and the season finale of Alphas.

So . . . . . How was the premier of The Good Wife.
Reply
Flag
It was good, but it was the first time that The Good Wife took the CSI cop-out, where there was only 5 mins left in the episode, and for the sake of the time the bad guy just confesses. I hate that.
Reply
Flag
Yeah, I really hate CSI . . . . . . Cop-outs as well.

Sooooooooooooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feels so good to have good TV back with people that can ACT!!!!!!! Such a hard thing to find these days. It was a little too slow in parts and I wish Alicia hadn't been as easily out-foxed at the end but it was still good.
Reply
Flag
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it. Tell me, do you think Alicia and Will are laying it on a little too thick?
Reply

I think Alicia was thinking the exact same thing by the end of the episode.

Terra Nova plot is so dumb and really pisses me off. Sure, it will probably be a good watch as entertainment but still, seriously? Really?

The life on Earth is dying because humans have destroyed nature through our obviously retarded economic system and wars and whatnot. Solution? Go back in time and start destroying nature and waging wars EVEN EARLIER? WTF. That is so dumb i do not know what. IF you are going to travel back in time, for these kind of ECO-purposes, how about DO NOT KILL THE DINOS. Learn to co-exist with them. Also, if you do want to avoid wars when you start over, how about DO NOT BRING TONS OF GUNS. And also do not bring a lot of stuff which pollutes, burns fuels and leaves a lot of waste.

I do not know about the last part, but the trailers have been filled with LOTS OF GUNS and people KILLING DINOS. Also they are driving gas-guzzling and polluting jeeps and tanks through the jungle. Not very Greenpeacy at all, is it?

The whole problem today is that mentality that mankind are at war with nature, that we must compete, that we must conquer nature and rule over nature. That we must kill nature, and take pictures of it while doing it. That is the problem. Why bring that mentality and attitude 85 million years back in time. We are a part of nature, not the ruler of nature. We are not "worth" more than any other living being. That is what we must understand, to maybe avoid the inevitable eco-disaster.

Actually they're going back to an alternate Earth, it's not in the same dimension, or so I've read from the show.

I think many are missing the huge potential this show has. The writers have setup a great way to explore starting an utopia civilization by scratch. There are many ways this show can become very dynamic. Do we interbreed races or do we want to keep them separate? How will jobs and labor be distributed? Is there going to be an elected body of government, or will everyone represent themselves? Will women have the same social equality? Will the scientists rule or will the military force? How will they go about deterring the asteroid from hitting earth? This show has the most potential out of any new shows this season.
Reply
Flag
Yeah you're right, don't shoot at dinos, just try to talk them out of eating you !
Reply
Flag
Or figure out how to co-exist, as i said.

Figure out how to take yourself of their meny, if you ever even were on it. figure out which habitat each species prefer to live. Most humans seem to prefer the dead areas, citys of concrete. Then how about buliding these citys on already dead ground, instead of in a lush, fertile forest?

Why is it always presumed that dinos would eat humans, or attack us? Tigers do not eat humans, and only attacks us in selfdefense. As do any other predator on earth, and/or poisonous animal. But humans have always killed them anyway, and feared them. Killed them for pleasure and for trophys. It is so sad. humans are not easy prey for predators, and probably not very nutritious either. Why would a polarbear gnaw on some old chewy, dry human filled with nasty chemicals when you can eat fat yummy seals? dinos would not either.

If you want to save the earth, stop all the fearmongering against large predators. If people could stop fearing these creatures, and just respect them and understand them, it would go a long way.

Yes and no. Mostly when it gets too annoying. This plot is too annoying.

Also why the bork is that r-word censored. I did not write any "f-word" my mouth is not that foul. I wrote the r-word that actually is a scientific word that means the opposite of acceleration. That r-word is commonly used, they have tried to replace it with "deceleration" sometimes but with no luck. Sorry for ranting.

Terra Nova, Hart of Dixie, The Lying Game, 2 Broke Girls, Castle, The Playboy Club, The Big C and Sarah Michelle Gellar on Chelsea Lately. I'm giving a really big second chance to a few shows tonight, so you better prove yourselves. Otherwise you lose me as a viewer! Network executives, did you hear that? You will lose me as a viewer, which should devastate you.

Nothing better to bring up the quality of TV shows than a little bit of healthy threatening.

The Playboy Club is on my second chance chopping block. I'm going to have to see a dramatic improvement from the premier to justify my continued viewership. The transcendentally beautiful Amber Heard can only distract me from terrible writing so much.
Reply
Flag
Yeah, true. Amber Heard is a major reason for me watching the show. Because in my mind she isn't just a beautiful woman, but also quite a talented actress. But that talent isn't enough if the rest of the show doesn't work. If I want to spend time looking at Amber I can always find pictures on-line. It's much less of a hassle than to watch a 42 minute episode.

Oops, I think I just revealed too much there.
