What to Watch Tonight: The Blacklist, HIMYM, and the Series Premiere of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty

What to watch on Monday, December 2...

7pm, Cartoon Network
Adventure Time
“Root Beer Guy” takes center stage, but can’t convince anyone of his claim that Finn and Jake have princess-napped Bubblegum. Then in “Frost & Fire,” the feud between Ice King and Flame Princess sets Finn’s subconscious brain a-stirring.

8pm, Cartoon Network
Steven Universe
Steven ensconces himself in a protective sphere in “Bubble Buddies”—the only problem is, he can’t seem to deactivate it. Then, “Cheeseburger Backpack” finds Steven coming into possession of a cheeseburger backpack, because sometimes episode titles cut right to the heart of matter.

8pm, ABC
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Chuck and the gang cobble together a pageant, sad yet inspirational tree and all, in the long-running, award-winning holiday special. Also included are “Charlie Brown Christmas Tales,” a series of vignettes centering on the Peanuts’ Yuletide escapades.

8pm, Fox
Almost Human
While undercover amid a drug ring, one of Kennex’s old cop buddies has his cover blown in “The Bends.” To salvage the investigation, Kennex and Dorian need to put Rudy’s unique skills into play.

8pm, CBS
How I Met Your Mother
In “The Rehearsal Dinner,” Barney aims to hold the pre-wedding feast at one of his most treasured venues: a laser tag arena. Robin, naturally, is somewhat less enthused. Elsewhere, Lily is irked when Ted drops the ball on a promise he made.

8:30pm, CBS
2 Broke Girls
Attending her onetime nanny’s funeral in “And the Life After Death,” Caroline is surprised to learn that the deceased’s family has no clue who she is.

9pm, ABC
CMA Country Christmas
Country music stars share songs, tales, and other tidings of comfort and/or joy in this special concert taped at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and hosted by Jennifer Nettles . Performers include Trace Adkins, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, and Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson.

SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, TLC
Bakery Boss
Cake Boss’s Buddy Valastro takes his business savvy and culinary chops on the road, helping boost the fortunes of small bakeries across America. In the opener, Buddy aids a struggling family-owned pastry establishment in Queens.

DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE, 9pm, HBO
The Battle of amfAR
The history of the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) is explored in this 2013 Sundance selection. Founded by research scientist Dr. Mathilde Krim and Elizabeth Taylor in the 1980s, when the disease was shrouded by misinformation and stigma when it wasn’t ignored outright, amfAR helped bring America’s HIV/AIDS crisis into the spotlight.

9pm, TNT
Major Crimes
A recently sprung (and potentially unbalanced) prisoner is absent from two straight parole meetings in “Jailbait,” and the squad is determined not to let him make it three. Elsewhere, a therapist assesses Rusty over a game of chess, although just once I’d like to see a TV show try this scenario with a game of, let’s say, Mouse Trap.

10pm, NBC
The Blacklist
“Anslo Garrick, Part 2” finds Ressler in dire straits even as Red attempts to negotiate with the current blacklist baddie. Liz, meanwhile, has managed to slip into the black site and disable the signal jammers—but will backup arrive in time?

SERIES PREMIERE, 10:30pm, Cartoon Network
Rick and Morty
When crackpot scientist Rick moves in with his daughter’s family, his eccentric experiments and zany gizmos prove a source of irresistible adventure for grandkids Morty and Summer in this animated comedy from co-creator Dan Harmon. Spencer Grammer, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and fellow creator Justin Roiland star.

On Almost Human, who the hell is "Rudy" in that? I hate when they send you guys press releases and act like everybody should know these characters already. Also, "Kennex" looks too much like "Kleenex" written down, it was already a lame "futuristic" name for the show's main star, but now it's totally ruined.

Ugh, another HIMYM episode where Robin is annoyed at Barney's antics? Man, it's like the show's writers have realized what the rest of us have: Barney is an awful person and not marriage material.

The Blacklist is often a game of Mousetrap, and the best part is that just like the rest of us, they don't actually play the game, they just set up the board and watch the Rube Goldbergian actions go (at least until they get to the diver or something where it sticks).

Christ, that 2 Broke Girls blurb sounds like such an obvious plot for the show that I can't believe they hadn't used it already. Caroline thinks she matters to her servants only to now learn she didn't, learns a life lesson (that doesn't carry over to the next episode) - how has this not been done already???
