What to watch on Wednesday, August 21...

8pm, ABC Family
Melissa & Joey
Joe gains a roguish rep after he begins dating the mother of one of his tutoring charges in “Teach Your Children,” while Mel is nonplussed by the kids’ plans to schlep around North America in an RV. Elsewhere, Ryder introduces his girlfriend to meat, and I’m just gonna let y’all read that one however you like.

9pm, Fox
The remaining six chefs test their meal-mimicking mettle when they assume control of a tony L.A. restaurant and must recreate its top offerings. The losing team can look forward to a pressure test involving squid. (Okay, fine, calamari—but it sounds much more dangerous when you say it my way.)

9pm, USA
Royal Pains
Molly goes missing, and it’s up to Hank to save the day as “Game of Phones” makes it two Wednesdays in a row with an episode title that puns off that show about the dragons. Across the Narrow Sea, Evan joins Divya on a sojourn to visit her mother in Italy.

Necessary Roughness
The V3 scandal hits its boiling point in “Sympathy for the Devil,” and even another Jesse and the Rippers reunion may not be enough to save the day. Might Dani’s vanished client and/or Nico’s surprise visitor be connected to the scheme?

10pm, Comedy Central
“Murder on the Planet Express” finds the team in a tight spot, trapped on the ship with a mortifying alien critter—but hey, enough about Zoidberg! [Rimshot.]

10pm, BBC America
The site of the murder comes into focus, answering some questions but raising others. While Hardy and Miller investigate Mark in the wake of his crumbling alibi, Steve Connelly delivers a disturbing message to Beth.

10pm, FX
The Bridge
Charlotte suspects Ray is hiding ulterior motives in “Destino,” and Linder heads across the border to tackle the most head-scratching case of his career. Meanwhile, El Paso PD gets a lock on its number one suspect.

10pm, TV Land
Hot in Cleveland
Elka and Mamie (Georgia Engel) workshop laugh lines for a roast at a senior center, while Victoria tests out the Mrs. Ladypants line’s latest product offering. Meanwhile in “Corpse Bride,” odd family matters bedevil Joy, and Melanie receives her long-awaited engagement ring via a surprising route.

10pm, A&E
Duck Dynasty
“So You Think You Can Date?” finds Martin diverted from the Friday-night poker game by a female caller. While the fellas teach him the ways of the heart, a babysitting Phil teaches Jep and Jessica the ways of the fish (specifically, how to yank one out of the water with a rod and reel).

Modern Dads
Stay-at-home dads be stay-at-home-daddin’ in A&E’s latest reality show-cum-sitcom. If that topsy-turvy premise alone isn’t enough to draw you in, perhaps the part of the logline for “Piece of Cake” where one of them contemplates a vasectomy will put you over the top.

– Kathryn Hahn on Chelsea Lately, 11pm, E!
– Tina Fey, humanitarian Hugh Evans, and Valerie June on Late Show with David Letterman, 11:35pm, CBS
