What to watch on Monday, June 18...
What caffeine is to your brain, television is to... your brain? I should probably work on that analogy some more, but you know what I mean: TV is invigorating! Hopefully. Sometimes. I don't know. Scrap that, this whole introduction has been a disaster so far. Typical Monday! Maybe I'll comfort myself by watching this stuff:
Tonight Emily and her eight lovers immigrate to Croatia where they'll gallivant around amongst ancient architecture and each others' hearts! Oh, and a screening of Pixar's Brave happens at some point because fine, why not? Then Emily will eject one or more of her lovers into the Adriatic Sea.
American Ninja Warrior
All the nimblest monkeymen of the American Mid South region will gather tonight to determine which 15 of them will proceed to the finals at Mt. Midoriyama (Las Vegas edition). Will it be the buff nerd with the sad background or will it be the former athlete with the heartwarming background? Tune in to find out!
SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, Nickelodeon
You may have noticed this show is premiering on a WEEK NIGHT, which means it's actually a Nick at Nite show, not a Nickelodeon show. Hollywood Heights, from the look of things, seems to be a warning shot fired directly at ABC Family: "We can do cheesy adult-ish drama also!" Anyway, this particular nighttime soap concerns two friends, Loren and Melissa, who sneak into a handsome rock star's concert and get embroiled in some larger-than-life Hollywood shenanigans. Or whatever. Everyone's attractive and there's drama. What else do you require?
"Abomination" finds the kids increasingly worried about the reptilian creature that's been killing folks, so Scott attempts to get Allison to put her family's knowledge base to good use. Meanwhile new werewolf Boyd joins lacrosse (obviously) and we'll hopefully learn much more about what's up with that creepy veterinarian!
SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, ABC
The Glass House
It's a go! After a few weeks of intense legal drama between ABC and CBS (the latter of which believes this show is a rip-off of its own Big Brother), The Glass House premieres tonight and we'll finally get to see just how similar the two shows are. The premise is this: While being filmed around the clock, seven teams of two will be tasked with solving a puzzle and the losers will be on the viewer-influenced chopping block. But what do they LOOK LIKE, you ask? A lot like this, but, you know, often in more jacuzzi-appropriate attire.
