What to Watch Tonight: The House Series Finale, American Ninja Warrior, and The Bachelorette

What to watch on Monday, May 21...

Here we go, the summer programming schedule has begun its slow, inevitable creep across our flatscreens and into our brains! Fortunately not everything looks terrible! These are some of those things:

SERIES FINALE, 8pm, Fox
House
One of television's weirdest, grossest, and most satisfying dramas ends tonight when Dr. House makes his final rounds. Tune in at 8pm for an hourlong retrospective of some of this series' finest moments, then at 9pm begins "Everybody Dies," House's series finale. In this final installment, House's treatment of a far-gone drug addict causes him to look back on his own life. Will lessons be learned? Or will, as the title threatens, everybody die? Nobody knows yet!

9pm, NBC
American Ninja Warrior
In a notable showing of good taste, tonight NBC takes over for G4 and broadcasts two full hours of the southwest-region qualifying round of this cult-favorite Japanese import. If you've never seen American Ninja Warrior, it involves dozens of ludicrously agile young men (and women!) who race through impossible obstacle courses, all for a shot at defeating a truly nightmarish jungle gym called Mt. Midoriyama and winning half a million dollars. It's basically Wipeout but with some redeeming social value. Honestly, this is very cool of NBC. Good job, guys!

9pm, ABC
The Bachelorette
What was I saying about redeeming social value? Nevermind! On tonight's installment of Bachelorette, Emily's suitors move into a Charlotte mansion and one will go on her first one-on-one date. Meanwhile thirteen of the dudes will perform with the Sesame Street muppets and later two of them MAY or MAY NOT fist fight! Then three more get the boot. Just a wild night, basically.

10pm, Syfy
Lost Girl
In "It's Better to Burn out Than Fae Away," (Lost Girl still hasn't run out of 'Fae' puns!), Bo seeks out a graffiti artist who's been exposing Fae secrets via street art. Fae-nksy? (Sorry.)

RECAP SPECIAL, 11pm, MTV
Teen Wolf: Origins
If you're interested in getting caught up with the first 12 episodes of MTV's surprisingly solid supernatural teen drama but don't want to deal Netflix Instant Streaming, you could always just watch this recap special! Should get you up to speed in time to enjoy (hopefully!) Season 2 and the photo recaps I'm planning to do. Just a tip! Exclamation point!

American Ninja Warrior, if only because it makes me want to exercise because I am not nearly in the shape of almost all of the people on it. And it's AWESOME.

House, I'll watch just b/c the show is done. I more-or-less stopped watching it prior to this season, but I watched most/half of this season since it's on its way out and it did give me a lot of joy in the beginning of its run
