What to Watch Tonight: The L.A. Complex, Glee, and New Girl

What to watch on Tuesday, April 24...

I'm gonna level with you: Slim pickin's tonight! Still though, here are some things to look out for while channel surfing/grimacing:

8pm, Fox
Glee
Aw, tonight the kids pay homage to the late Whitney Houston by performing some of her best hits. (Or, at least performing duets along with Autotune). In exciting faculty news, Emma and Will inch ever closer to getting hitched.

SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, CW
The L.A. Complex
Don't worry if this modern day, poor-man's version of Melrose Place doesn't look super good to you. It mostly likely didn't look too good to the CW either, which is why it's premiering in April. In tonight's pilot "Down in LA," we'll meet a handful of Hollywood dreamers who live in the titular apartment complex, including a Canadian actress who just doesn't know any better apparently.

9pm, Fox
New Girl
These kids just ain't learnin' lessons: In "Tomatoes," Cece plays it off like she's cool with Schmidt dating one of her model roommates. Meanwhile Jess laments that Russell is too polite with her. And Nick channels all his melancholy into becoming overly obsessed with his vegetable garden. Learn lessons, you guys!

8:30pm, ABC
Cougar Town
Tonight Jules and Grayson grow uncomfortable about merging their financial lives, plus Travis attempts to give Laurie advice on her surprisingly successful business. (Don't spill Merlot on the invoices?)

SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, HGTV
The White Room Challenge
In spinning off one of Design Star's best challenges into its own show, HGTV seems to have created its very own Chopped-esque one-off reality competition! Tune in for tonight's premiere in which designers will be tasked with transforming basic white rooms into stylish areas using at minimum 1500 flowers, which is just a normal way to decorate a room, basically.

PLUS ALL NEW EPISODES OF...

LA Complex is great (and got great reviews from real publications). Dismissing it with snark ain't helping no one, Peterson.

Hey TV.com, how is Barack Obama on Late Night with Jimmy, not in your "Late Night Picks." What, is John Cusack more important than what the president of the United States has to say? Apparently so.

Cougar Town. Nothing else. :-(

DVR says that Late Late Show is a rerun, as it did last night, and was right yesterday so I'm tending to trust it over TV.com on this one.

I wrote something very similar last week. Then my good friend, TheBam711, recommended New Girl, and now I'm an adorkable addict.

New girl is great. So funny. Check out Schmidt's online dating video from 2008, done in the style of the hills. Had me in stitches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zkf5SSdfQYA

Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon will be broadcasting from the UNC campus at Chapel Hill, NC tonight - with guest President Obama. Not sure why that's not on the list. Usually I watch Craig but I'll prolly check out Fallon tonight. Nothing else good is on tonight - well Tom Waits on Letterman but still.

I love Jewel Staite but I'm afraid I want her show to fail. I hope the L.A. Complex gets cancelled very quickly so she can go back to doing something I'd watch. This is how we lost Princess Vespa.

i watched it when it was released, its an awesome show. Its already been renewed.

Does not appear that it was renewed so much as picked up for an almost full season. They appear to have gone from 6 episodes to 19.

Glee, Cougar Town, New Girl, Private Practice, The Game, Jason Mraz on Chelsea Lately, Alice Eve on Conan, Amy Poehler on Letterman, and James Van Der Beek on Carson Daly

and I'll probably check out The L.A. Complex based solely on the fact that Kaylee.. I mean.. Jewel Staite.. is in it. also find it interesting that CW has it's 3rd show with somebody from Degrassi on it (Nina Dobrev and Shenae Grimes being the other two)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank TheBam711 for recommending New Girl.

For some reason I never gave it a chance, and without TheBam, I'd still be woefully ignorant of its awesomeness.

I've burned through the entire season in under a week (crazy, I know). I also think I'm in love with Zooey Decshanel.

I now have a Tuesday show!

What I'm watching tonight: "It's Jess!"
