What to watch on Tuesday, October 8...

TIME PERIOD PREMIERE, 8pm, The CW
The Originals
The gang’s all here as Rebekah arrives in New Orleans in “House of the Rising Sun.” Once on the scene, she fields surprising news from Hayley and enlists Sophie’s help to nip Klaus’s dirty dealings in the bud. Elsewhere, Marcel recruits Davina for a risky plan of his own, and Klaus searches for Marcel’s secret weapon.

8pm, ABC
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The team gives chase when nogoodniks abduct supergenius scientist Tony Sta Reed Richa Bruce Ba Hank McC Dr. Franklin Hall. Yeah, that’s the guy. Skye may hold the key to the rescue mission in “The Asset," but their plan takes a nosedive in a hurry.

8pm, CBS
NCIS
When a Navy lieutenant vanishes in “Under the Radar,” there’s only one place the squad can turn for clues: Twitter. Clearly the officer’s disappearance is tied to a conspiracy involving twerking jokes, replace-a-word hashtag games, and the latest crazy shit to go down on Scandal.

8:30pm, Fox
Brooklyn Nine Nine
“M.E. Time” finds Jake smitten with a fetching medical examiner (Mary Elizabeth Ellis, no doubt glad to be momentarily free of Charlie Kelly’s horrifying affections). Meanwhile, Sgt. Jeffords reveals an unexpected knack for sketch artistry.

SEASON 9 PREMIERE, 9pm, The CW
Supernatural
With Sam teetering on the edge of death in “I Think I’m Gonna Like it Here,” Dean appeals to any angel within earshot for help. Naturally, most of the angels who heed the call (like guest-star Tahmoh Penikett) are royally cheesed and would rather kill a Winchester than save one. Elsewhere, Castiel has a hard timing coping without his powers.

9pm, PBS
Frontline
“League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis” examines how the National Football League has responded to evidence linking football to debilitating brain injuries, and to claims by former players that America’s most popular pro sports league has attempted to cover up its knowledge of the game’s long-term risks.

9:30pm, Fox
The Mindy Project
In “Magic Morgan,” Mindy is tempted to test Morgan’s contention that every one of his bedroom partners immediately goes on to find true love. But when she changes her mind at the last minute, he gets downright litigious. Perhaps new love interest Glenn Howerton can help set Mindy’s mind at ease, since it’s apparently It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Guest Star Week on Fox's Tuesday comedies.

10pm, FX
Sons of Anarchy
SAMCRO must turn to an unlikely ally, and if said ally is “The Mad King” referenced in the title, that can only mean one thing: The Sons are joining forces with the ghost of King George III. Tremble before their combined might, SAMCRO rivals, as His Royal Highness raises your duties on stamps and sugar products with nary a concern for your lack of representation in Parliament!

10pm, CBS
Person of Interest
Carter, Shaw, and Zoe Morgan form the POI-verse’s version of the Birds of Prey in “Lady Killer.” Their mark: a slippery playboy who may be caught up in something more dangerous than even the sleaziest pick-up artistry. In the psych ward, the Machine abets Root’s escape attempt before a deadly foe can reach her.

10pm, NBC
Chicago Fire
Severide has a bead on the serial arsonist, but he’ll need to scare up some evidence before he can nail his nemesis. Elsewhere in “Defcon 1,” Casey acclimates to his new lifestyle, Mouch enlists a friend of Dawson’s to get his union campaign in shape, and financial difficulties beset Molly’s.
