What to Watch Tonight: The Vampire Diaries, the Return of Beavis and Butt-head, and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

What to watch on Thursday, October 27...

Uh oh, it's already Thursday! Is your Halloween costume finished yet? Have you even STARTED on it? I'm thinking about going as either a Cheeto or maybe an Otter Pop, what about you??

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
ABC has the honor of airing this Charlie Brown holiday special that's only slightly less depressing than the Christmas one! Gather up your kids for an hour's worth of midtempo music, mildly depressed children, and their dashed hopes and dreams.

8pm, CW
The Vampire Diaries
Nevermind Halloween, everybody knows the spookiest night of the year is Illumination Night! What? I'm not sure. It's almost like this show wanted a Halloween episode even though it's currently September 2010 in its timeline! Anyway, in Mystic Falls Illumination Night's a biggie because it's the night when all the dead characters come back and annoy everyone. For instance, former werewolf Mason has a few bones to pick with his murderer, Damon, plus Elena will call upon an old friend to help with the Stefan situation. Have a great Illumination Night, everybody!

Beavis and Butt-head
Fun fact: Did you know that the last episode of this show's original incarnation aired in November of 1997?! That is so long ago, I can't even perform the math on how many years that is! Anyway, tonight kicks off the long-threatened reboot of a truly legendary franchise, and though it's been a while since the dudes have been a part of pop culture, tonight they'll deal with the very modern Twilight phenomenon. So excited about this show!

9pm, CW
The Secret Circle
Unlike Mystic Falls, Chance Harbor is celebrating Halloween FOR REAL this year, and tonight a party that Cassie throws is immediately infiltrated by some evil folks. Also, new witch Jake will be there and we'll find out just how willing he is to hang out with a bunch of high school students all the time.

8pm, NBC
After Britta has the gang take personality tests, she becomes convinced one of them is a psycho. But will Jeff's solution to have everyone tell a horror story help Britta suss out the crazy person? I don't know, I never know, but this sounds great!

SEASON 9 FINALE / SERIES PREMIERE, 9 & 10:30pm, Lifetime
Project Runway
Project Accessory

Tonight the final four designers show off their work at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and one of them will be crowned the winner (pleasenotJoshpleasenotJosh). And afterward, Lifetime will preside over a ceremonial passing of the timeslot torch to brand-new PR spin-off, Project Accessory! This Molly Sims-hosted series promises to be exactly like PR except with bracelets! Finally.
