Whoopi Goldberg set for Criminal role

Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg is set to guest-star on the NBC drama Law & Order: Criminal Intent in a potential recurring role.

She will play Chesley Watkins, a foster mother gone bad.

"Whoopi never gets to be the bad guy. In the world of Criminal Intent she'll be the baddest," said Fred Berner, the drama's executive producer.

The character, shaped up as a criminal nemesis to Detective Mike Logan (Chris Noth), will be introduced in an episode of CI slated to air in May.

Joining Goldberg in the episode will be Law & Order veteran S. Epatha Merkerson, who, in a crossover appearance, will reprise her character on the mothership series as Lt. Van Buren.

Goldberg most recently starred in and executive produced NBC's short-lived comedy series Whoopi and headlined a solo show on Broadway that aired on HBO as a special titled Whoopi: Back to Broadway--The 20th Anniversary. Her voice will be heard in the upcoming animated feature Everyone's Hero and the mockumentary Farce of the Penguins.

Ok, I can see wanting to have a nemesis for Logan, Goren has one, why not him too. But I don't think that this will come out good. I love Logan to death, but. . .
I don't think he an Whoopi will really blaence off each other as well and Goren and Nicole. I just am not seeing this endding well.

I'm starting to get sick of Chris Noth in the show. I was hoping to see some more tribulation between Nicole Wallace and Det. Goren (is she really dead?).

WOW! Can't wait to see the crossover with Whoopi Goldberg & S Epatha Merkerson - it will be interesting to see the goldberg/noth clash - I imagine it will be a bit like the Titanic hitting an iceberg.
