Will Meredith Be the Next to Leave Grey's Anatomy?

... Grey's Anatomy is one of my favorite dramas, and I don't even watch the show. I just love listening to the actors and writers bitch about each other while threatening to leave the program. Next up to leave the ABC hit may be Ellen Pompeo, who says she probably won't renew her contract with Grey's when it expires after Season 8 (the show is currently finishing Season 6). Thing is, she plays Meredith Grey, the show's namesake. Here's hoping they just change the name to Anatomy, as it's a more fitting title for a show about doctors who hump each other between appendectomies. [Extra]

... In the best news for pedophiles since the Olsen Twins came on the scene, TLC has renewed Toddlers and Tiaras for a third season. And if you can find a way to shovel those old pizza boxes out from in front of your television, you can also watch more of Hoarding: Buried Alive, as it's been picked up for Season 2. [THR]

... That waste of space that is Entourage (sorry guys, I loathe that show) will add an actress I've seen a lot of (if you know what I mean) next season. Sasha Grey, one of porn's biggest names, will join the show for a major arc as Vince's girlfriend. Grey isn't just a lie-on-her-back actress, though—she also starred in Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience. Also, the eighth season of Entourage may be the show's last. [TV Guide Magazine]

... James Gandolfini, better known as that cannoli Tony Soprano, is adapting the French-Canadian comedy series Taxi-22 for HBO. Gandolfini hasn't decided on a role since leaving The Sopranos, but there's a possibility he could star in this new project. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Fresh off its second-season renewal, FX's Justified has promoted actor Walton Goggins to series regular. Goggins plays Boyd Crowder, a racist neo-Nazi with a penchant for firing rocket launchers at churches. And I hear he's single, ladies! [THR]

... Elizabeth Perkins is leaving Weeds after five seasons. Perkins is leaving the pot-peddling Showtime comedy (which used to be dank but is now just shwag) to focus on a film career. [THR]

... Craig Kilborn, the smarmy original host of The Daily Show who everyone loves to hate (except me, I liked him for some reason), is giving the talk-show thing another try. The syndicated venture won't be a late-night show, and will combine a typical talk show with a "nonpolitical Daily Show." [NY Times]

I've watched Grey's Anatomy from the start, but after around season 4, it lost what made it a good show. The actors are alright and all, but some on, it's getting ridiculous. Hopefully she won't need to leave, they'll just end it. if they do decide to keep going and she leaves, there's always Lexi Grey lol

I am former watcher of GA. Frankly, I think the show has pasted its greatness. So if Pompeo after 8 seasons the show should not go on.

  • Genzie

I agree with Pompeo directly! 8 years is a long time working with the same people, same material every single day. Everyone needs a change someday.Besides I didnt see Greys Anatomy lasting longer than 8 seasons anyway. I love the show because it is focused on the actors , more than the medical stuff , while for example E.R. focusses more on Medical stuff so it makes it easier for main characters to say goodbye. Grey's Anatomy wouldn't survive with leaving castmembers.

The only thing I want to hear come from Sasha Grey's mouth is, "gughh gughh gugghhh ahhhh!" lol.

"Anatomy"...that'd be like if when Freddie Prinze died, they renamed his show "And the Man."

Grey's has turned to crap so I don't blame her for wanting to explore her options.

Please I wanted meredith gone as soon as her sister came in, it justified the name and the show's worst character wouldn't be there anymore. Win/win!

Meredith should have been the first to go all along. I might start watching the show again after she leaves.

I dont think the show will see a 9th season, let alone EP being in it or not.

With George having left, Izzie leaving and Meredith on the way I think that Grey's Anatomy will end up like ER- most of the lovely characters left and only new ones are hanging around. Although, I think that Grey's Anatomy was a phenomenon in its first two seasons but season 3 was when the show went downhill. Season 4 was great, better than the third one, but I think that the show is not the same anymore. Currently, I'm watching season 5 on DVD and I think that it's good but not so much comparing it to the begginning of the show. Seems like it this always happens with most of the tv shows- they start great and end not reaching their full potential.:(:(

If Chyler Leigh is still on GA after EP leaves, and they make Lexie the main character (Merideth in general is horrible and it never should've been about her in the first place), I'll start watching it again. Also I'm happy to hear Walton Goggins will be a regular on Justified, that guy is awesome. I just find it so refereshing after reading "Fire in the Hole" (the story the series is based on) that they actually kept Boyd Crowder on the show at all. (***SPOILER ALERT*** .... his gunshot at the end of the print version was fatal). Either way, Goggins can shine on FX once again!

I don't watch Grey's Anatomy either but I'm constantly hearing a lot about it from the news. I wouldn't want to work on that show.

Ellen Pompeo is horrible. She never really cares about her patients only Dempsey, Sandra Oh, and all the gossip. She became a doctor more because of her mother, but no real reason as to why or any believable passion shown for it. She only lights up when dealing with friends or finding out who's sleeping with who. Her narrations have become by-the-numbers straight-forward script reading. Chyler Leigh, who plays her half sister, Lexie, a.k.a. "Li'l Grey", is who and/or what this show should have been about in the first place. Pompeo has become poor casting. My only gripe with Leigh is her sex life being a bit off somehow and I am not liking the blond hair, but her passion for helping patients works and she is a character that could learn and grow up on this show, unlike Pompeo who should already be older and wiser.moreless

OMG yes, elizabeth is gone, she must have seen all the petitions fans made to get her character killed off the show weeds:)

  • marto_dd

There is more than one Gray on the show.
