The 57-year-old was forced to cancel a number of one-man shows amid concerns over a heart condition.

But the man who helped put Robin on the comedy map, Mork And Mindy producer Garry Marshall, has said the funny man - who faces aortic valve replacement surgery - is okay.

"I hear very good reports", he said.

Marshall, who gave Robin his TV break in Happy Days before producing the spin-off alien show, contacted Robin after news of his illness broke.

People magazine reports that Garry was "shocked" to hear of the comedian's condition.

At the premiere of Race To Witch Mountain, the 74-year-old said: "I was very shocked by that because he works so energetic. But he's a young man, I think sometimes God says 'slow down' and (Robin) will heal and he'll be fine."

He added: "He's one of a kind, Robin. He's one of a kind."
