Witches of East End Will Never Resolve Its Season 2 Cliffhangers Because It's Canceled

Witches of East End fans, you'd best get out your eye of newt and toe of frog (and maybe practice your angry-letter writing skills), because Lifetime has axed the supernatural drama after two seasons, according to TV Line.

The timing of the cancellation couldn't be worse for the series, as its Season 2 finale, which aired in early October, set up some juicy scenarios for a potential third season. (Spoilers follow!) Namely: 1) Ingrid found out she was pregnant, though we don't know who the father is, 2) Frederick was murdered, 3) Dash and Killian swapped bodies, and 4) Wendy made it to H-E-double hockey sticks, where a mysterious voice said, "Good to see you again, sister."

But alas, now we'll never know the identity of Ingrid's baby daddy without some good fan fiction.

With Witches of East End cut from Lifetime's roster, only one original scripted program remains in the network's lineup: Devious Maids. Lifetime recently canceled sci-fi series The Lottery, and it said goodbye to Drop Dead Diva earlier this year. However, it's looking to replenish its stocks with the upcoming dramedy Un-Real and Glenn Mazzara's Damien, a sequel to the classic 1976 horror film The Omen.

Will you miss Witches of East End? Let's hear your theories on who the father of Ingrid's baby is!

This is crazy!!! That show is so good & there are no other witch shows on right now. The cast is smoking hot & the storyline leaves u wanting more. Lifetime made a bad move!!! It needs to get picked up by a bigger station or Netflix!

I am highly pissed. I loved the show witches of east end. Life time should know I pay for good programming and I have boycotted lifetime. No good reason on why it has great reviews cast was ready to go. And like bad magic from lifetime no more. There was a great thrill for the viewers like myself who liked Buffy the vampire slayer and practical magic. The essence witches had was fresh and modern. BE SMART LIFETIME BRING BACK THE CAST N SHOW!!!

I had no idea until I juust happened to notice on my following list that it said "ended in 2014" next to Witches of East End... WTF WHY?? At least give this show a limited miniseries to tie up it's bajillion loose ends.... Why would you cancel this compelling supernatural soap? Which, let's face it, it was a soap. So you can toss a few more dollars towards your awesome *cough cough "original" movies? Lifetime- Witches of East End was the ONLY show I watched on your network, and I don't plan to return. Thanks for making us love something and then ripping it away.
Oh Oh! I just remembered, this is the SECOND time I've been burned by you guys on a supernatural soap.. Blood Ties anyone? WoEE was wayyy better than Blood Ties but Blood Ties was pretty good for its time. If they had chosen someone else to play Vicki, I think Blood Ties would have been much more of a success.

I wouldn't say it was better than... well, season 1 of Blood Ties, anyway. Regardless, I had the same reaction: YOU'RE DOING THIS TO ME AGAIN?!?!

They should at least pick it up for 6 episodes or so in order to resolve the storylines! I hate when a show is canceled and a bunch of cliff hangers are left!

OMG!! I heard rumors of a possible cancelation but hoped it wasn't true. First Lifetime cancels Army Wives, which I understood after several changing seasons with characters coming and going, it was only a matter of time before the show ended due to lack of new story line. Then The Client list was canceled after only 2 seasons with the final episode being a cliff hanger. I really liked this show so much better than the movie with Jennifer Love-Hewitt. After that, Drop Dead Diva gets canceled. I adored this show and was extremely bummed when I heard of it's departure but I still had Witches Of East End & Devious Maids to keep my spirits up. Unfortunately, now I hear of Witches cancelation on yet again another cliff hanger. I just hope that Devious Maids does come back for a 3rd season as stated because that would be the ultimate deal breaker for me and boycotting Lifetime all together.

This was truly a huge disappointment, tell me why why why would Lifetime be so stupide to make awful decision like this. I mean give the people a real good ending before canceling a shows. It just doesn't make any sense. Common sens, isn't that common I guess.

Having been a huge fan of "Charmed" I kinda liked this show - It was not as fun as "Charmed" nor where the characters as appealing (Alyssa Milano - wow and Holly Marie Combs - cool) but good enough - I'm sorry to see the show canceled - Maybe the "Charmed" concept that is good witches saving the world by fighting evil was more attractive

This is depressing. This show had so much happening in it and it was good - why cancel it? It's not like they got any better shows on this channel. One of the worst losses in TV world this year.

Just watched the last episode and didn't even realise that the show had been cancelled, now reading this I can't believe it!! Why would they cancel it, it's so good. I agree with other people on here that its not the end of the world when they cancel a show, but ending it on a cliffhanger is just mean. I really hope that they either change their minds or another network picks it up. If not I guess its up to my imagination.

I really like Devious Maids but I will NEVER support a show on the Lifetime network again. I wish those buffoons would decide to call it quits before they leave the season finale(s) on cliffhangers. Very entertaining show to watch. I really hope Netflix picks the show up.

You have to be kidding me. I am getting very tired of shows being cancelled with significant cliffhangers. Can't they just give us some closure? I loved Witches of East End & was fond of The Lottery. These are the first Lifetime original shows I have watched. With the cancellations of Longmire & The Glades, I think I will quit watching shows on Lifetime & A&E. They cancel all the good ones with cliffhangers.

There's always the comic format A couple of shows have gone that route:
  • Jericho
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Angel
  • A couple others that I forget
The 4400 used books.

This way at least the show runners can at least finish their story.

I'm very shocked to hear they decided to ax it. From what I gathered, they had a fairly substantial amount of watchers; not to mention that the final created quite a buzz and promised good ratings for the premiere.
Lifetime is doing about anything and everything with its programming and we've seen them go from "cancelled" to "eh..ok, one more season" more than once, I wouldn't be too surprised if amazon, netflix or yahoo bought the rights back to make some dollars out of it, people want more of this show and if no one steps in to exploit it, I would be very surprised...or maybe i'm just delusional...

Knowing that the current television season has being very lenient with new shows because there are not many good new ideas (see Jane the Virgin and other mediocrete shows that survived), you actually have a point. If the next season is like the current one, then they should want to hold on to ideas that are not excellent but can gather some viewers.

We can only hope. A least end it. Properly. I don't get upset (too much) when show I like are cancelled. But I get terribly pissed off when networks leave them hanging. You make the decision to cancel when there is still time to come to a conclusion. Why is that so hard for networks to understand that? Denouement, then conclusion. That's how art has always worked
