X Factor lands in voting hot water

Reality show contestant Ruth Lorenzo ended up in the bottom two of X Factor contestants last weekend, after the wrong telephone number was displayed on screen. This is the second voting blunder the show has seen in as many years--last February ITV, overcharged 1.8 million voters, after a mix up with the cost of interactive votes.

This Saturday, fans were unable to vote for over an hour, after Ruth’s onscreen voting number was shown missing a digit, the Daily Mirror has reported.

The 25-year-old was forced to compete against fellow contestants Girlband, after the two acts received the lowest number of votes that week. The judges' votes later saved Ruth from being kicked off.

An X Factor spokeswoman explained to the Daily Mirror that, "the incorrect number was on screen for less than three seconds, and this was accompanied by an audio announcement giving the correct number." She claimed it would "not have changed the outcome of the vote."

Do you agree?

Both acts are/were crap, so it wouldn't have mattered to me who left that week.

I was shocked to see Ruth in the bottom 2 last week so yeah I do believe it had an affect on the outcome. However at least when they went to deadlock she wasn't bottom otherwise Id be really annoyed at this news story. At least your source wasn't the Daily Star otherwise Id have a hard time believeing it

It doesn't take a genius to realise that you only need the last 2 digits to vote for someone so the fact that the main part of the number is repeated like 11 times means that it shouldn't have made a difference.

Yeah, no way does giving out the wrong number affect the vote.

I thought this was about the comic book being remade into a tv show... What a letdown.

Who cares. These kinds of shows need to die off already.
