Yum! Fox Renews MasterChef Junior for Season 4

It's time to force little Johnny to whip up another black currant coulis and make sure that his special seared salmon is just the right color pink on the inside, because you still have a shot at realizing success through your offspring! Fox has renewed its kid-sized culinary competition MasterChef Junior for a fourth season, the network announced today. And frankly, I'm over the moon because the show is awesome.

MasterChef Junior, a spin-off of the intense, all-adult MasterChef, features kids ages 8 to 12 cooking up some seriously impressive dishes under the tutelage of chef Gordon Ramsay. Last season, one kid as big as my thumb poached a salmon with a side of asparagus five ways because she only had two ingredients to work with, and it looked absolutely delicious. And Ramsay restrains his typically volcanic behavior in favor of dishing out careful, constructive criticism and displaying genuine awe at what these tykes can do. All told, MasterChef Junior is actually a very sweet series that's become regular viewing in my household as I try to figure out how to transform my daughter in my personal chef.

Fox has also announced a new addition to the show's judging panel. Christina Tosi, the pastry chef and owner of New York's Milk Bar (part of the Momofuku family), will replace departing judge Joe Bastianich on both MasterChef and MasterChef Junior, where she'll taste contestants' dishes alongside Ramsay and Graham Elliot's glasses. I believe Tosi invented Momofuku's famous Compost Cookies, which are the best cookies in the entire known universe, so that's enough authority for me. Every other cookie should be embarrassed to call itself a cookie when compared to the Compost Cookie. When I die, please fill my coffin with Momofuku Compost Cookies. And embalm me with Compost Cookie batter. In fact, I would lie down and die right now if I was certain that request would be fulfilled.

MasterChef Junior is currently airing its third season on Tuesday nights at 8pm. MasterChef will air its sixth season sometime this summer.

They always seem to have some 12 year old boy who you want eliminated as soon as possible.

let's be honest, this show ain't actually worth an article of its own.

It must suck to have to have had to write it out...My sympathies go out to ya, T.

You did read this right? It's T's regular viewing in his household.

It does belong in a news briefs article, but these guys no longer care to encapsulate such items together in one anymore - sadly.

It's a good show despite some possible questionable aspects and certainly light years better than such things as Honey Boo Boo.

They kind of ruined the show last season deciding to eliminate two or more each week. A lot of people were not happy the Asian boy Sean got bumped off in the restaurant challenge. Had it not been for double eliminations and his being on the losing team that would lose two, he would have carried on. I can see the first round whittling them down to 10 or 12, but then on should stick with one. Wished I knew why they changed it,m but maybe they did not want the kids working for so long on it.

Anyone know why Joe is leaving? I do think a desert chef is a good idea to cover that aspect of food.
