Nip/Tuck - A disturbingly perfect drama. Be aware that the show description below, synopses of episodes, and the forum are likely to contain spoilers.

This drama is set in a south Florida plastic surgery center, McNamara-Troy, centering around the two doctors who own it. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) is having problems at home, trying to keep his family together, trying to patch up the rocky road him and his wife Julia (Joely Richardson) are experiencing. On the other hand, sex-craved Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) uses his charm to bring in potential female candidates and conducts shady business deals, often for the love of money. While Sean takes his job seriously, he often has to fix Christian's mistakes. During the first season, Sean and Christian got mixed up with Escobar Gallardo, a Colombian drug lord who forced the two to do free surgery whenever he wanted them to. Sean's marriage with Julia began to wear thin, and Sean had an affair with a patient named Megan O'Hara. Julia went back to school, but it was interrupted by a miscarriage of a child Sean and Julia were trying to have. Christian learned he is the father of a baby with a woman named Gina, who he met at Sexaholics Anonymous. When the baby was born, we learn that the baby is African-American, and therefore not his. Julia questions Matt's paternity.

The second season begins with Sean and Christian both turning 40, and Christian playing father for Wilbur, who Gina is letting him take care of, until Wilbur's real father fights him for custody. Sean and Julia are quite happy together again until Christian's loneliness after Wilbur was taken away from him causes her to reveal that Matt is really his son. The secret ripples and eventually Sean finds out, causing a separation between Sean and Julia. He and Christian find a way to stay friends. A serial rapist named the Carver has been raping victims around Miami, and slices their face, and Sean makes a commitment to fixing their faces. Ava, a life coach for Sean and Julia, forms a sexual relationship with Matt, which is doomed from the beginning due to a wide age gap and Ava's screwed up son Adrian.

Seasons three and four have been ordered by FX at 15 episodes each. Season 3 will begin production in June for a September premiere date. Chronological repeats of the show air Sundays at 10pm.   Nip/Tuck in Season Five: Kinky Sex, Nudity and the Return of Rosie O'Donnell Ed Martin Live from the Television Critics Association Tour Beverly Hills, CA -- "I don't think the show is kinky enough!" That was Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon waking up the crowd Thursday morning at the Summer Television Critics Association Tour. He was responding to a reporter who had asked cast members to recall the most "jaw-dropping" thing they had been asked to do during the last four seasons of their sex-drenched FX series. "My jaw hasn't dropped yet," McMahon noted. Clearly a self-confident fellow who revels in pushing boundaries, he revealed that he had just filmed a scene on Wednesday in which he exposed more of himself than had been called for in the script. In the scene, his character, sexed-up plastic surgeon Christian Troy, was supposed to do pushups in his bathroom while wearing a bathing suit. "I decided to do them on the deck, naked," McMahon beamed as various members of the press and network and studio executives in the room ooh-ed, ah-ed, laughed or sighed. The unflappable McMahon also said that a storyline last year in which his character questioned his sexuality and seemed to be experiencing sexual desire for his long-time friend and professional partner Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) did not go far enough. "I think we have to notch up our kink level a little bit," he later declared. The show's current level of kink seems to be working just fine. In addition to being the highest rated series last year on basic cable among viewers 18-49, Nip/Tuck also seems to be the hottest series in Hollywood. One cannot go anywhere in this town without running into people who continue to talk about it, even after four years on FX. It's on everyone's TiVo and it remains a favorite with television critics. As the spirited session continued, McMahon revealed how he would end the series, when it finally concludes, which likely won't be anytime soon because it has a 22-episode order for its fifth season and creator Ryan Murphy says he would "love" to do a sixth year. If he ruled the world, or at least the show, McMahon said the final scene of the series would begin with Sean in the shower "lathering up." There would then be a cut to feet tip-toeing through the room, approaching the shower. "The shower door springs open and it's Christian!" McMahon exclaimed. "Hey, baby, finally we can be together!" Just before McMahon offered his storyline suggestion, Murphy reminded the TCA that, when Nip/Tuck debuted four years ago, "I said this show at its core is a heterosexual love story between two men. It was about how intimate a straight guy can get with another straight guy without being gay." Still, with McMahon, almost anything goes. "It's not just being naked," he said. "I just want to do weird things." That weirdness, if he had his way, might include a sequence in which Christian has sex while suspended like a victim from Silence of the Lambs . Two Marilyn Monroe impersonators would be involved. (When it comes to shocking people, McMahon's imagination seems to know no boundaries. So it's a good thing he didn't attend the National Geographic Channel luncheon that followed the FX session. During the lunch, NGC screened clips from the next season of its shocking series Taboo , about the God-awful things people do to themselves in our culture and others, some of them involving sex. I would like to offer a detailed description of the scenes of mutilation, body modification and extreme physical challenges included in those clips, but like dozens of critics around me - some of whom fled the room - I had to turn away for fear of my lunch returning to its plate.) The Nip/Tuck session wasn't entirely devoted to the hidden desires of Julian McMahon. Murphy said that the fifth season, which begins in October, will find all of its core characters leaving Miami behind and beginning new lives in Los Angeles. Drs. McNamara and Troy will open a clinic in Beverly Hills and become medical consultants on a Nip/Tuck -like medical show titled Hearts & Scalpels , which Murphy referred to as "the worst medical show ever made." A character portrayed by Oliver Platt whom Murphy described as "me" will run the hospital in this show-within-a-show, and Bradley Cooper will play "the world's biggest cad/plastic surgeon." Also in the new season, Portia de Rossi has been cast as an acupuncturist and Rosie O'Donnell will once again be seen as white trash lottery winner Dawn Budge for several episodes. But, even though the series remains so popular in Hollywood, Murphy said not to expect a cavalcade of guest stars like last season. (In addition to O'Donnell, they included Richard Chamberlain, Catherine Deneuve, Brooke Shields, Jacqueline Bisset, Larry Hagman, Kathleen Turner, Mario Lopez and Alanis Morissette.) Instead, the show this year will "get back to the family," Murphy asserted. Along that line, Joely Richardson will return as Sean's ex-wife Julia, the mother of Christian's son Matt. Julia will travel to Los Angeles to reveal major news to the former men in her life and remain there with them. Matt and his bride, Kimber, will show up "for nefarious reasons," Murphy revealed. Liz, the luckless anesthesiologist, will also bolt Miami for Los Angeles after Christian and Sean offer her a position and "double her salary." Interestingly, Murphy said that when he first pitched Nip/Tuck five years ago it was set in Beverly Hills. But there were concerns that it would become about the "starlet of the week" seeking surgery, because plastic surgery had just exploded, especially on the West Coast. "Now, we won't have a lot of starlets coming in," he noted. "Our cases are exotic and odd." Overall, season five will "explore the temptations of L.A. and how they affect our characters." less «

  When "Nip/Tuck" made its debut in 2003, it broke cable-viewing records and instantly distinguished itself with its stylized look, tongue-in-cheek tone, gorgeous stars and fresh take on America's obsession with beauty and youth. Those qualities earned it a Golden Globe for best drama, critical acclaim and water-cooler buzz that lasted for most of its first four seasons. But when one of FX's signature series quietly wrapped last week on the Paramount lot, it did so without the usual fanfare associated with the end of a noteworthy show. In part, the silent send-off was because TV viewers won't see the "Nip/Tuck" finale, which finished shooting on June 12, for a long time, probably as late as 2011, making it tricky to publicize. Behind the scenes too, during the last week of production, there was an awkward sense that the end had already happened, since much of the crew had already moved to creator Ryan Murphy's new Fox musical, "Glee," last year, and Murphy himself was out of the country location-scouting for an upcoming movie. "It's sad because it feels incomplete," said script supervisor Diana Valentine, who asked the cast to sign her finale script in between takes of shooting the show's last family dinner scene, which included almost every major character. Valentine, who joined the series in its second season, worked on "Beverly Hills, 90210" for its entire run. "It's not the same feeling I had when I was wrapping on '90210'.   This show is definitely watchable. It is funny, amusing, dramatic, and sometimes scary. People love this show and become addicted just like me or hate it from the first minute.
  
  The storyline and plot is well written also the characters are well developed. With the talented actors and actresses also the acting is great in the show.
  
  For me all the seasons are good but my favorite seasons are 1,2 and 3. And my favorite actor is Julian of course. He is great in the show both acting and outer look. I can't wait for new season and more action and more patients.

  Dramatic and shocking is an understatement hide « show »

  If you've seen Nip/Tuck you don't need me to tell you it's worth watching just for what happens. It also offers great acting and people you love to hate or just love period. No matter how shocking it gets, it is believable thanks to the great characters. Two plastic surgeons struggle with their lives and others while they operate on the usually demented or physically troubled, but always very interesting people. Very entertaining show, but nearing it's end. Watch it while you can because if you wait any longer it's going to be an expensive DVD box set to pay for.

  An awesome show that keeps you wanting more! hide « show »

  I mainly got into this show because Julian McMahon was the lead. But as I watched it, it became much more than that. Now I watch it for everyone, not just Julian. (Although he is a big reason) This show is smart, dramatic, funny, and even dark and serious at times. It's a perfect blend of genres that make it such a beautiful show to watch. The characters are great and easy to watch, and not 2-D. They have wonderful depth and personalities, and can make you sypathize with. But all the actors are amazing and have such talent. This show is made of win.

  What is wrong with this show? It is absurd, ridiculous, boring, unoriginal, lame...just disappointing. They should just stop producing it. Really. It has nothing of what it used to be in Seasons 1 to 3. A complete embarrassment. hide « show »

  I am a big Nip/Tuck fan but unfortunately this show is going downhill fast. It is boring, unimaginative, supremely absurd, ridiculously lame. The characters have been reduced to nothing but two dimensional caricatures and their struggles are as meaningful as the story lines. The show has gone from smart and original to plain stupid and tedious. The story has practically zero coherency and there is next to no continuity or self awareness in the characters, except for some vague, skeletal connection they all have to their past (i.e. same name etc). If the characters hadnt kept their names and werent being played by the same actors, I wouldnt know that this is the same show I watched years ago. It's just pathetic. Christian's character has not grown as the writers would like us believe, he has merely turned into a pathetic, whiny little sap without any plausible explanation in the plot as to why. It seems like the writers just ran out of things to do with Christian, and so decided to have him be a complete embarrassment. He doesn't have an ounce of the zest and eagerness he had before and we don't even know why. Sean is not even remotely the same person he used to be. And it's not that he grew or changed, it is as if they had just made up a new character. Julia has completely disappeared after having turned lesbian (out of the blue). The writers are so pathetic and have ran out of stories so they have Christian have sex with Liz (a stern lesbian who would NEVER have sold out to Christian's advances). And what's up with the biker chick who is supposed to be daring? She is not only miscasted but her character, just like any character, is just not very believable. This show used to be daring, spellbinding, intriguing, intelligent and edgy. Now it is just an embarrassment and I really hope they stop producing it.

  The video from the show "Yo Stank" sums up this episode quite appropriately...basically, it stunk. hide « show »

  I haven't missed an episode of Nip Tuck in years, but this week's offering was enough to make me question that dedication. Right off the bat, the opening scenes with "Coco" was so bad that I almost turned it off. Jennifer is a great comedic actress and she did a good job, but whoever wrote that dialogue should be canned. Funny is one thing, but ridiculous? I can do without that.
  
  The relationship between Christian and Liz is intriguing, but again, his script left me wondering if the real writers had taken a week off. I know that he has an enormous ego and he loves to show it off, but it seems that this week was nothing more than one jab after another about his sexual prowess. Enough already. And his attitude during the cancer survivor's meeting was nothing but deplorable. Yeah...we get it...he's a jerk, but I doubt that even Dr. Troy would have been so cold hearted and unsympathetic in such a situation.
  
  Then there's Roxy...Come on! Going into the lobby of the office and cutting your own breast off with an electronic carving knife? How disgusting was that scene? Again...I know and understand that she was desperate and wanted to get Christian's attention, but was the gore of it all necessary? Couldn't the result have been manifest without showing the actual act? It was shocking just for the sake of being shocking...IMHO, just an attempt to have people say that the show is staying on the "cutting edge" (no pun intended) by doing things that haven't been done before. It's one thing to be an adult show because of the language and at times a gratuitous butt or boob shot, but to result to blood and gore is taking it to another low level. And lastly, the return of Eden. Again, the writing for this part was horrible! Her lines were pathetic! It's no wonder the actress' delivery was so bad...her lines were crap! I've seen better acting on daytime latino soaps!
  
  Next week, the show has 5-10 minutes max to prove to me that this week was a fluke. Otherwsie, the channel will be changed promptly. Sad...this show was fun to watch not too long ago. It had just a little dose of reality but didn't go over the top like this episode did.
