    Alright,
    The Mayan Calendar:
The Earth has years, the year "ends" at the end of a calendar year. The Mayan's had Calendars for the moon, for many of the planets, for Earth, for the sun, and I think some other stars...

But the "End of the Calendar" is NOT the "Apocalypse"...
The Mayan's made CALENDARS, 2012 is the end of what is called an "AGE", specifically we are moving from "The Age of Pisces" TO "The Age of Aquarius".
The SUN has a calendar (That the Mayan's made, based on the suns movement through the Milky Way Galaxy) a "Sun Year" is called an "Age". So it is not the "End of the world"...The sun has just made a shift through the galaxy, and they calculated that shift happening before it happened...

In terms of change...Think of it this way:
By the end of 2011, EVERYTHING that will be invented, and released in 2011 comes out.
THEN in 2012, some new things come out RIGHT AWAY...But, you don't get to see ALL the new things for 2012, until 2012 is DONE. Something could still be released December 31 2012. So don't expect to see ALL the leaps of this age in the first year, don't expect EVERYTHING to change, or "The World to end" by Dec 2012...There are THOUSANDS of years left in the age of Aquarius...There is MUCH more too come...

But the past 100-200 years is a HUGE indication of what is to come.
The invention of flight, harnessing of electricity, advancements in conductivity (Microchips), all kinds of things. These have happened in preparation of the new age. And for the Next few thousand years, things are going to happen that we could NEVER IMAGINE...

And it can go so many different ways...
There will be a lot of potential for good though

They say that the Mayans couldn't see past December 21, 2012 in their visions of the future at that time. And there's also that 800-year-old tablet that was found that depicted a human being attacked by an alien or something. Any indications regarding those situations?

It's like the Earth going around the sun ,a sun going around the galaxy core.

It can be nothing but it can be something more.

Like the movie or something worse.

A lot of prophecies are writing from a certain point of view as seen at the time and can be seen different now.

Fear of the unknown at that time would be the end of everything, today we see it as a change sometime for better or worse,we won't know until it happens. That's the fun

You've got these shows like "Doomsday Preppers" and 'Countdown To Apocalypse' happening that may foretell what could happen next month from a scientific point of view. Are they really worth watching? Only if you think it's all ceasing by then.

Then again, things could be different. But of course, no one wants to wind up in the way they are in the series "Revolution". Except there are those people who were affected by Superstorm Sandy who haven't had their lives back to normal yet. Could Sandy have been a prelude to something more foreboding?

There's a little over a month before the inevitable. Or not. It's still undetermined.

    Okay, here's where things stand:

In case you're wondering, all this hyperbole about the world ending on December 21 was instigated by a fictional drama-adventure movie released a couple years earlier!

And clarification about the Mayan calendar was noted at the start of this topic.

While the Wikipedia article "2012 Phenonenon" lists most of the misconceptions about that date, it doesn't mention anything about the Biblical prophecy of the arrival of the Four Horsemen or of the prophecies of Nostradamus.

We could still be in trouble regarding December 21 after all.

Actually the Bible says the Earth will not end. Yeah at the end of Revelation it talks about the Earth being consumed by fire but in the original Greek it says it's more like a remodeling job. Come to think of it, my bedroom needs a remodeling job--and I definitely need a flame thrower to accomplish that. Tongue out

In some time zones, even as I post, it's the day of the end of the current Mayan Calendar cycle. Once we get past tomorrow, or to be more precise, 7:00 AM Eastern Time tomorrow, we will have made it through the transition of the Mayan Calendar cycle. So there shouldn't be any panic or anything.

Then again, you've got History Channel airing some program titled "2012: The End Is NOW" later tonight. This could end up being a flop for the network, as it probably will be, since everythng about the end is all misconstrued and everything.

UPDATE: There have been six time zones as I post this which have made it past the end of the Mayan Calendar cycle. So, by 7:00 AM tomorrow morning, it will have all gone by without confrontation.

We are going to make it.

2012 movie made 2009 is base on a book called fingerprints of the gods 1995.
Which is base on the book chariots of the gods 1968.
The Mayan Prophecies is base on the mayan writings. It's the way these are read that today should have been Doomsday.Like I say above it's to do with the Sun and the Core. But if I'm wrong who going to be around tomorrow to say "I told you so":-)

The definitive headline for today would be "Apocalypse No", as we have made it past the end of the Mayan Calendar cycle and have started the next one.

And thanks for the info about where that fictional movie got its inspiration.

Perhaps National Gepgraphic Channel can cancel "Doomsday Preppers" at last. Now that's an idea!

    Happy Holidays, Everyone!
