I had never really thought about doing this before, but saw a photo of what you can do in a magazine, and decided to give it a look.  Using iPod Wizard, you can change just about anything on your ipod you want.  They have a bunch of custom made themes, fonts, etc., and also the tools to create your own.  I had really just gone there in hopes of changing my "Do Not Disconnect" image (which I suceeded at), but now am kind of hooked.  I think I might try to make my own Virginia Tech and Bleach themes.

So, has anyone else attempted to mod their iPods?

Mine's pretty full too (only have 11 gigs left), but thankfully everything is backed up on my pc.  I definitely had a slight fear in the back of my mind of screwing thigns up, but it seems pretty safe; no problems thus far.

I saw one for $269, that my 5 year old pointed out. He won't be getting it. He is too young.

I have iPod Linux on my iPod Nano, which means if I wan't to listen to songs it goes to the normal iPod software, and If I want to watch video clips I just go to the iPod Linux firmware. The dodge thing is that it can't play compressed videos, which means I can really only play video clips (e.g. a 30 mb compressed video clip will turn out to be about 180mb), so I only have a few video clips on there. I would've got the iPod Video which is much better, but I don't think I could adjust to it's size.

Well, I'm making progress on my Bleach theme . . .

First, there was editing the Star rating system to a Hollow Mask

Second, I changed the Lock Screen, and then with Zug's help, the Lock itself.

Third came changing the Title and Scroll bars (if you're a fan of Bleach art, you may recognize where the red Chevrons come from.

Here is the Volume/Progress bar background, which looks like This when a song is playing.

I'm too lazy to take pictures of them in action, but here are the two Charging icons, the Charged icon, and the Do Not Disconnect icon.  Next up; the playing cards: Girls of Bleach edition

Bleh, I'll finish up the other ones as soon as you tell me what color you want them to be.
