STILL trying to access GAC's top 50 videos of 2012. They're still re-airing episodes 'til 1/11, so I'm hoping they post a list after then.

Wednesday February 13th is when the Academy of Country Music award nominations will be announced. My only wish is that "No Hurry" from the Zac Brown Band makes it in there for the Song of the Year award.

God bless you and them and the writers of the song always!!!

Here are my choicesfor the 48th annual ACM Awards:

Entertainer of the Year: Luke Bryan or Taylor Swift

Male Vocalist: Luke Bryan or Blake Shelton; each of my daughters is a fan of each, which is funny.

Female Vocalist: Martina McBride or Taylor Swift

Vocal Duo: Sugarland or Thompson Square, although I really don't think Sugarland stands a chance...more the shame.

Vocal Group: Lady A or Little Big Town

    New Male Vocalist: Hunter Hayes

New Female Vocalist: Meh; don't really care for any of them.

New Vocal Duo or Group: Thompson Square

New Artist: What is the point of this category? They only chose one from each of the preceding categories...and not a single one that I would have chosen. Do they really think that Florida Georgia Line is better than Thompson Square? Seriously?

Album of the Year: Red - Taylor Swift or Tailgates & Tanlines - Luke Bryan or Tornado - Little Big Town Have 'em all, love 'em all!

Single Record of the Year: "Over You" - Miranda Lambert or "Pontoon" - Little Big Town. Although I'm not a huge Miranda fan, this particular song is beyond fabulous...but "Pontoon" is so hopelessly fun and ear-wiggy.

Song of the Year: "Over You" - Miranda Lambert...see above.

Video of the Year:"Tornado" - Little Big Town or "WANEGBT" - Taylor Swift...but really leaning towards Swift. That entire video was done in a single, unbroken take! Gimmicky, true...but quite the accomplishment, including costume and scenery changes.

Vocal Event of the Year: "The Only Way I Know" - Jason Aldean with Luke Bryan and Eric Church, which I have subtitled, "Hot, Hotter, and OMG!"

    Songwriter: Shane McAnally

^^^ Did you know that Shane McAnally released an album of his singing back in 2000. I don't know why things didn't take off for him, every song on the album is good.

God bless you and him always!!!

I'm just so deeply disappointed in their choices for Best New Female. I don't care for any of them, and Katie Armiger and Teea Goans blow them all out of the water. Put "Better in a Black Dress" next to "Merry-Go-Round" or "Why You Wanna" and tell ME which is the superior song.

^^^ I can't believe that Casey Musgraves made it in there for Female Artist of the Year when she only has one song on the radio right now.

God bless you and her always!!!

For those who are interested, I learned from a pop-up on the Music Choice True Country channel last night that Mindy McCready passed away this week. She must have been a more recent country music performer, probably having hits within the past couple of years, though not really major hits.

And I need to clarify something relating to the very first post of this topic: Patti Page, who passed away January 1- becoming the first artist to pass away in 2013- was a pop singer. Her song "Tennessee Waltz" was probably the first pop song to cross over to the country charts. Patti's biggest hit was "Allegheny Moon" in 1955, and her last charted single was "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte", which hit #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in 1965.

Mindy McCready was actually a big deal back in the 1990s, with hits like "Guys Do It All the Time", "You'll Never Know"and "Ten Thousand Angels". Her videos showed up regularly at the time: "You'll Never Know" was directed by her then-boyfriend, actor Dean Cain. I loved her song "Let's Talk About Love" that was on the "Country Cares for Kids" CD compiled by Alabama. She was nominated for Best New Female Artist - Country in the 1996 American Music Awards & the 1996 Academy of Country Music Awards(lost to LeAnn Rimes both times).

Unfortunately, her attitude, undiagnosed (at the time) mental health issues, and a slew of bad advisors kind of put a kibosh on what was promising to be a fantasticcareer.

The cast for Season 16 of "Dancing With the Stars" was announced this morning, and was I pleased and surprised to find not one, but TWO stars from the country music community in the listing: Kellie Pickler and Wynonna Judd!!! It'll be interesting to see how they do; personally, I'm cheering for Kellie.

My husband and I used to watch "My Classic Car" on Sunday mornings before heading out to church. It's good to know it's still on; unfortunately, 10PM is about my bedtime.

Last night was the Academy of Country Music awards! Both of my daughters were thrilled as one of them loves Blake Shelton, the other loves Luke Bryan...and they were the hosts! They did a fairly good job hosting, kept the party going. The performances were overall pretty good. L-O-V-E the song by Tim McGraw/Taylor Swift/Keith Urban! Wonderful to see Stevie Wonder rockin' it like the icon he is.

Best New Artist: Florida Georgia Line (Seriously? They're TERRIBLE! While I'm not fond of either Brantley or Jana, either of them are better.)

Best Album: "Chief" - Eric Church (Meh. At least it wasn't Underwood, but I would have preferred one of the other 3 nominees.)

Best Song: "Over You" - Miranda Lambert (co-written by Blake Shelton)

Best Record: "Over You" - Miranda Lambert

    Best Group: Little Big Town

    Best Duo: Thompson Square

    Best Female Artist: Miranda Lambert

    Best Male Artist: Jason Aldean

Entertainer of the Year: LUKE BRYAN!!! I thought my daughter-the-Luke-fan was going to explode!

P.S. to Holly: Odd question, but what do you think of singer Pat Green?
