the girls were evil and self centered and mean and hatful and cruel. They guys were hurtfull and just nasty..

It was cold and we never had heat and out luch room was in a different building so no matter the weather you had to walk outside to get to eat.

    It's been 25 years, but...

    WHY I HATE HIGH SCHOOL

    1. I graduated in a cl*ss of around 1,000 students...and I still couldn't be faceless.
    2. The rich kids lorded it over the poor kids...guess where I was?
    3. If the Vice Principal wasn't a family friend, and I didn't get in good with the Principal by working in the office one period a day, my life would have been worse than it was. The school didn't have any "zero tolerance" or anything when it came to bullying.
    4. I graduated in the upper quarter of my cl*ss...with a reading comprehension problem AND THE TEACHERS NEVER NOTICED.
    5. The guidance counselors did neither.
    6. Our chorus was the worst in the state because our music director let ANYONE in the chorus, whether they could sing or not (my final refuge was pretty much taken from me because of this). Imagine a chorus with 50 sopranos (most of which couldn't hit the high notes), 12 altos, and 10 tenors & bases combined....and that is not an exaggeration.

Graduation day was easily one of the happiest days of my life...and a week before, I received death threats at my home.

Why I hate my high school.

1.People bully me for no apparent reason.

2.A rumor has been going around about me the last 6 years that is not true and people that I don't even talk to, believe it and it really makes me mad!

    3.so much relationship/friendship drama

4.some of the teachers are more fun then helpful

5.The basketball coach is an A-hole. I played basketball at the beginning of this school year and I was probably the weakest player. The team would pick on me and so would the coach! He made us run around 10 suicides a day and each suicide was timed and if we didn't make it we had to do it again and I was always last and I never made it.The coach finally pulled me aside and told me, I waste his time and that I can't play well and I'm not trying, which I was.

Liked the students despised the lazy, fun, let me be your pal teachers. So now I go to the high school one period a day and head on over to the college for a real education.

I just have lost all interest in school. I could pull B's last year effortlessly, and this year so far I managed to get all A's 'cept for a B+ in math, with barely much added effort. (And I don't take low level classes either.) I'm good at just memorizing a text book and certain teacher lectures. I can honestly say I haven't done a single homework assignment at home either. I do it during homeroom, lunch, and study halls, which has worked rather well for me.

I do go to International Club at our school, but that's only because I had to do some sort of club involving the school. International Club was nice because all I have to do is sit there, eat food (yay), and learn about different cultures, which is something I'm actually remotely interested in.

One thing I wish they would do is modify the American History curriculum. We always start at Christopher Columbus stop at the Civil War. I wanna learn about the 1900's. Oh yeah, and WWI. I have no idea what that's about. Or what the deal was with Japan and Pearl Harbor.

My High School acts like it's for younger kids plus the adults are stupid and ugly and the rooms smell most of them and the food they make there sometimes tastes awful.

Well, since you don't do homework at home you can assign yourself a book about those subjects, or at least read a Wikipedia article about it.

Boy, people sure have a lot of complaints when it comes to high school. And most of them seem totally legitimate. I'm a teacher, and it pains me to hear how unhappy so many students are. So here's the tough question for ya'll...How can we (your teachers) make things better for you? What do students really want? I would definitely appreciate some thoughtful responses.

I haven't been a student for a very long time but I think a counselor should talk to each student about this. The counselor would have to have the proper training for this, which might be hard to come by, but the object would be to make the student realize that things have to be a certain way. That isn't meant to say that the way the school is now is the way it needs to be. Some of the students may have legitimate ideas. Even when an idea is frivolous, the counselor should discuss it seriously, with the idea that the student should come around to the conclusion that it's a silly idea without the counselor having to say it. The idea is that the student should come away from the meeting feeling that anything that can be improved will be.

I do not know if a session might work better if there are 2 students in the room so the counselor can observe a discussion between peers.

My main complaint is that in my high school, each and every day requires walking through a ton of stairs. I once had to walk four whole floors to another period. Please don't criticize me for being lazy, but I just don't want to walk that much. Especially during first period, where I feel like I'm half-asleep from just waking up less than an hour ago. And yesterday, my history teacher got incredibly angry when none of the class could answer a question. He threw an entire chapter at us to make notes about today. Also, there was a strange mixture of snow and minor flooding today. I was incredibly wet. I had to wait for the bus for more than 20 minutes.

My freshman year when my parents went to the open house I had them visit my classes in the order I had them during the day. They complained about me making them walk up and down all the stairs. It was probably harder on my mom because she was a smoker. However, I think a teen should be able to walk up 4 flights. The more you dislike it the more you probably need it.

To add on to my earlier list, I don't like those students, who are the teacher's pet and at my school, there are some. For example, these two girls, take pictures with their sophomore History teacher, when they are in 11th grade now and they make art for her, eat lunch with her, take her to the mall. It is so annoying! She isn't even their teacher anymore and they act like that.

To answer the question about what I, as a student want. I want the teachers to quit wasting time yelling and punishing those students who don't care. If those students want to get bad grades and drop out, let them. All they want is attention. Teachers need to help the people who actually care.

Also, teachers need to stop being so much fun and teach at least. In my History class, we watch movies and he gives us the answers to our work and we don't really learn anything.

It is up to you to learn. If the teacher makes it too easy, then you have to make it harder on yourself.

I think people often get away with bullying in high school because the teachers don't think it's serious. "Oh, they're just teasing. Just ignore them." So the student either has to deal with verbally and physically abusive treatment every day or skip school, in which case they are the one who gets in trouble. That's a good reason to hate high school.

^^ That was certainly the dominant attitude in the past but I thought schools had come to realize that bullying is a serious problem.

Yeah, school society doesn't seem to change despite passing generations. Also, on some days, my school just feels like one of those preppy high school sitcoms back in the 90s. It even has its own Screech.
