Whenever I ask people what their worst subject is, they'll agree with me and say Math is. For me I'm more better at memorizing terms and years. Has anyone in here even had to use the math they learned in Highschool, to real life? I personally think the only math you need to know, to live life functionally is up to 8th grade math.

As long as you know the formulas and you have a good teacher, math is pretty easy. I got my first ever C last year in Algebra but this year with a better teacher I have had straight A's in Geometry. My worst subject actually is science, or chemistry in 10th grade.

A in Geometry...? Are you human? I remember in highschool, everyone in my Geometry class made below an 85, lowest grade being a 7!

I've had to use induction in real life which I think was year 11 work, as well as a little bit of calculus and some of the advanced probability stuff. I'm doing a science degree at uni so being hopeless at maths would be a problem. Some things (like imaginary numbers) were a complete waste of time though. Other subjects also have their moments too. I don't see the point in being able to recite entire Shakespeare passages.

We think completely opposite, because I love reading old literature, since alot of it is the basis of what modern literature is. Such as the short story The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant, popularized the twist ending.

lol I think it's based on the teacher. I was lucky enough to get the teacher that explains every single thing and writes everything out. It's time consuming, but I understand most of the stuff. And it also helps when his review worksheets are the exact same thing as the tests.

I hate when teachers make the review completely different from the test! Or make the homework completely different from the notes your wrote down from class. I guess because I like consistency.

I know what you mean. At my uni I've got to figure out what kind of teacher each one is.

In some cases, the revision is a good way to find out which things will definitely not be in the exam and should be ignored. On the other hand, some of them will do an example question which you shouldn't tell to the people who didn't come to the revision class (*wink*), and what a surprise, the exact same question word for word pops up in the exam.

Sometimes I wish I was studying psychology.

If by math you mean anything they teach in school, it isn't...

Never had problems with math, i liked it, had a lot more trouble with chemistry X_X It's always been easier for me to remember the things that need a bit of understanding (like math or science) than those subjects you just have to learn and memorize like history or geography...

I'm a sophomore, so we take chemistry, and I know what you mean completely! Thanks to my perfect attendance, I was able to be exempt from my first semester exams because I only needed an 83 average in all classes, and my chemistry grade was an A, but I'd honestly only passed thanks to the Internet. I aced my homework but bombed my tests!

I'm majoring in a science that is math-intensive, so being savvy with numbers is pivotal for me. I used to be a math-hater back in the day, but one particular year, I had a spectacular mathematics teacher who taught it so well. Concepts in math that had previously mystified me came so naturally when he taught them. He often made the lectures fun and engaging. And for that, I received As in math and in many years afterwards.

Thanks to him, I realized just how capable my math skills actually were and that I had a prodigious memory. In my opinion, that's the problem with academia today. Subjects such as mathematics aren't taught properly. The way to make math interesting, or in some cases, bearable, you need to make it fun and the difficulty should be given to students in increments.

Math is hard because it is a physical workout for your brain.

There are not any thing in the world is hard but you have to do the lots of practice to get the right result. Maths is right one in which you have to do the lots of practice for getting the nice result.
