Olivia is currently appearing as the mother in Cingular Wireless' unusual commerical Battle. Due to the tone of their voices and body language, Battle appears to be a vocal fight between a mother and a daughter. The commercial is actually a "fight" over how grateful the daughter is that her mother is giving her a new cell phone.

Birkelund: Some soap scenes really crack you up—but you’re not supposed to laugh. The scene where my daughter attempted to murder me was actually a little funny and silly.

Birkelund: Soaps are like any form of fantasy, they are pure entertainment. The fans might want to look like the glamorous characters, but I don’t think they’d truly want to be them. Their lives are far too peripatetic.
