Biz Markie was sued by Gilbert O'Sullivan for sampling his song "Alone Again (Naturally)" for "Just A Friend".
(edit)
Aqua was sued by Mattel for copyright infringement due to their song "Barbie Girl". The case was eventually dismissed.
(edit)
The "strikingly handsome gentleman" Shatner is referring to for introducing T'Pau's song "Heart and Soul" (in an old clip) is himself.
(edit)
4 Non Blondes' song "What's Up" was originally titled "What's Going On" (as is what is said in the chorus), but they changed the title because they thought there were already too many songs out called "What's Going On".
(edit)
Biz Markie: No matter what I did, everybody thought it was funny, so I just did it like it was supposed to be done.
(edit)
Young MC: I'd be at a major label, and they'd be like, "Well, Marvin, you know, 'Bust A Move' did so well, but that was then. You know, these people doin' that gangsta stuff, you gotta go that way. And they dressin' like this, or they talk about this, you gotta do that." And I'm like, "But that's not me."
(edit)
Shatner: David Soul isn't the only actor to dabble in the musical arts. What am I, chopped liver?
(edit)
"Just A Friend" was spotlighted on VH1's I Love the '80s Strikes Back in the episode 1989 even though it came out (or became a hit, anyway) in 1990.
