Orlando: (on his dyslexia) Because of the dyslexia I always thought I had to work twice as hard as everyone else just to go the same distance. And I think that gave me a real kick as a kid and a lot of fight and a lot of drive later on, like when I broke my back. And now, whenever I prepare for a meeting I am always over prepared. So for the Lord Of The Rings audition, for example, I really prepared it thoroughly. In one sense, I guess that I'm grateful; it gave me that drive, and so far it's paid off. (edit) Orlando: Isn't it every boy's dream to be a pirate? I certainly played pirate when I was a kid. (edit) Orlando: (on his eco-friendly house) It has been a hassle, no denying it. It has come in at double the budget, but I'll admit it was me who was making all the changes! It's powered by all the latest technology and I've tried to think about recycling--using as much old material as I can. It isn't furnished yet, and I'm still living out of a suitcase but it's coming together. (edit) Orlando: (on Kate Bosworth) We're still very good friends. But there's been no denying that it had been a difficult year for us both. Kate was on one side of the world, in Australia shooting Superman, and I was on the other, in the Bahamas for Pirates. So we tried giving each other a little bit of time out... In our case, it was extremely unfortunate that everything was on public display. I have always tried to keep my cards close to my chest--while wearing my heart on my sleeve--but it is a really hard thing to do.
