Matchmaker 2000 is a reality TV show that records a couple who are thrown together to see how they react to one another. The show’s producers choose Passion Cove as the location for the action. On site producer Suzanne and cameraman Ken foreshadow the sexual hi-jinx from their contestant couple Katie and Ben in the production van before the contestants arrive.
A misunderstanding about the keys for the beach house is quickly solved and the contestants who are virtual strangers go to their separate rooms. Their first dinner together is awkward and producer Suzanne seeks to spice up the conversation to no avail. Off camera Katie and Ben get along better playing a game of strip fish but the real action is between Suzanne and Ken.
The following day things loosen up as the contestant couple leap into the pool begin cavorting but all the action seems to occur off camera. Individual interviews are lukewarm and Suzanne begins to get worried that the show’s ratings are going to suffer.
Suzanne despite her extra curricular activities with Ken has an ongoing relationship with the shows executive producer, Peter. When Katie and Ben catch Suzanne and Ken in the act the turn the camera of their tormenters then sneak away for some of their own action.. Behind a locked door the contestant couple are anything but the boring couple they have been on camera.
Ken and Suzanne have more than one issue. The show is tanking because of the lack of on camera chemistry between is starring couple and Ken begins to worry that Peter will find out about his affair with Suzanne. “He’ll either beat me up of fire me” Ken tells Suzanne. Suzanne is nonchalant. She tells Ken not to worry. But Suzanne doesn’t know about is the scene Ban and Katie filmed. When Peter views the dailies he learns of Suzanne’s infidelity. He is not a happy man.
