Margoe arrives and hears her husband, Tony, erotically involved with his latest plaything, Kitty. She knocks on the door, sending Kitty scattering for her clothes and confronts her partner. She tells him this is the last time and throws the bum out. Tony accuses her of wanting him out of the way for her so called her best friend Drew’s arrival intimating that she wants him to be more that just a best friend.
Drew arrives with flowers for Margoe and wine for Tony, Margoe tells him that Tony is away for work and asks the whereabouts of Drew’s mate, Linda. Drew tells her that Linda had a family crisis and hoped to catch up the next day.
Putting absent mates aside Margoe suggest refrain from work talk and change for the beach. On the beach Margoe goes topless coyly asking Drew if he minds. As they exchange application of sunscreen Drew asks Margoe about Tony’s work which she replies she doesn’t know. The conversation about why they can say anything to each other and not to their respective partners. Sex changes things Drew replies. Why does that have to be Margoe asks? I don’t know he says. For a moment Drew almost kisses Margoe but hesitates and draws away,
After dinner Margoe asks Drew about Linda. When Drew is less than enthusiastic she questions when he will find that special one. She points that he is thirty and it is time to settle down. Turning the question on her Drew points out the Margoe tried marriage when she was young and look how that worked out. Watching a video (evidentially an erotic one) Margoe question how the actress performed that! The conversation turns to whether Margoe could do something similar and in kind of a dare Margoe winds up stripping for Drew. The moment passes as Margoe goes to get dressed.
The next day Linda finally arrives. Drew is out running on the beach. Margoe welcomes her and fetches a glass of iced tea. Drew returns from running and Linda demands his complete attention…in the bedroom. Afterwards Linda and Drew come down stairs and Linda announces she had only come out for “goodbye sex”.
Margoe tries to keep from making the moment embarrassing but Drew knows she heard. Margoe offers Drew a compassionate hug, but nothing more. Later Drew answers the phone and talks to Tony. The next day Margoe and Drew walk on the beach and Drew tells Margoe that he had talked to Tony. Margoe breaks down and tell Drew that she and Tony have broken up.
In an uneasy moment Drew confesses that he loves her that he always has. Margoe is unsure she doesn’t want to lose her friend.
In one of the worst written scenes ever, Margoe and Drew profess their undying love and even more their lust. They then proceed to prove the latter right there on the ever handy towel on the beach of Passion Cove.
