Sex therapist and author Dr Elizabeth Henning and he assistant, Ruth, take a break from work with a weekend at Passion Cove. It was chosen particularly for it’s remote location but Elizabeth is used to hotels and room service and she finds the facility nice but not inspirational.
Also expected is Ruth’s boyfriend Nick. Not expected is a local neighbor who rides by on the beach. He tells Liz and Ruth that he cares for horses at a local stable and owns the property next door. Ruth expresses interest in riding and they agree to meet the next day. That after noon Nick arrives and her an Ruth renew their friendship in a physical manner which causes Elizabeth to regret her solitary status. However being a PhD she takes matters in hand and soon is not quite so lonely.
At dinner Elizabeth explains her philosophy on love and sex, which draws a question, from Nick but Ruth interrupts and saves her boss from explaining why she has no man in her current life. That night Elizabeth has an erotic dream where she finds herself watching Ruth and Nick making love. The next day she arrives on the beach after Ruth and Nick have already ridden off, but Win is waiting for her and he has a horse saddled and ready for Elizabeth to ride.
A bit of light flirting leads to Win chasing Elizabeth up some rocks where they find Ruth and Nick engaged once again in each other. As she watches the young couple move and thrust together Elizabeth is visibly moved.
The older couples conversation turns to Elizabeth’s feelings and why she finds herself alone. The opportunity passes, however, and when Elizabeth and Win return to the beach house Ruth and nick are swimming in the pool. Feeling relaxed for the first time in months, Elizabeth announces that she feels like cooking and invites Win to join her and the younger couple for dinner at seven. After dinner conversation winds up to Elizabeth description of a incident from her childhood.
Elizabeth has consumed sufficient wine to need some time alone with Win so Nick suggest to Ruth it is time for them to leave Elizabeth and Win to their own devices.
Nick and Ruth once again dive into their nighttime activities and this time does not listen at their door of dream of watching their lovemaking. Instead she takes some of her own advice and invites Win into her bed.
The next day is getaway day. Ruth and Elizabeth watch as Nick goes back to his work and then they get in the limo and return to Elizabeth’s speaking tour. A much happier and more relaxed Elizabeth has for once she has taken her own advice and intends to practice what she preaches instead of isolating herself in her work.
