Since the early 90s, The Boy Scouts of America, which is partially funded by tax-money and uses public schools as meeting halls, has been largely run by the Mormon church, and has banned homosexuals and atheists from being members. 4 people are interviewed: An eagle scout who wrote a book praising the boy scouts, a man who was kicked out of the boy scouts for being gay, a lady who sued the boy scouts and a gay activist trying to make the boy scouts change their ways. Finally, a group of straight kids and a group of gay kids compete in folding flags, tying knots and putting up a tent.

Just look at Scouting in Canada to see what happens when Boy Scout membership standards change. The program was distorted and incomplete. Newsweek says boys are more likely than girls to do poorly in school, take drugs, and skip college. A Harris Internative study details how Scouting effectively combats this. This is the much anticipated first episode of the fourth season of Penn & Tellers show: Bullshit. As expected they dove right into the topic of how the Boy Scuts were a corrupt institution hell bent on teaching young boys to be against homosexuals and athiests. One of the things they point out is that the Mormon church has taken over a large part of the organization. They make claim to the fact that the Mormon's support and run around 60% of all Boy Scout troops. One of the problems that I had with this episode was that they presented the camping contest's results as being an absolute certainty every time. But overall this was an above average and certaintly amusing episode of Bullshit!
