Biography:

Italian-American singer Al Martino made his way as a 1950's pop crooner via his first prize win on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts in 1949. It was his encouragement from Mario Lanza himself that led him to his musical career. His single "Here in My Heart" hit the UK singles chart at number one, making him the first overseas performer to achieve that goal on November 14, 1952, putting him into the Guinness Book of World Records. Al is perhaps best known for his acting role as Johnny Fontaine in the 1972 film The Godfather.
