After reading Albert Salmi's biography (the book, not the one here), I realize that fans and fellow actors all felt the same way - that he should have been much more appreciated than he was. Casting directors knew it, and they were tickled pink to cast him in their shows or movies. They knew he would arrive promptly, know his character inside and out, and give a stellar performance every time. In fact, it was Salmi's work that sometimes kept a show from being a total thumbs-down.
I'm glad we had him on screen for as long as we did. Too bad it wasn't for longer. What a tragic end that poor man had!
