Trivia and Quotes

  • Quotes

    • Alexandrea: (on what she will do after being eliminated from "American Idol") Just continue doing my music and writing stuff. I pretty much have my life mapped out the way I want it to go. In the future, I would like to have my own band and hopefully record a soul/pop/rock type of album within the means of Nikka Costa, Alicia Keys and John Mayer. I'd like to venture into that nice live sound.

    • Alexandrea: (on if the closeness of the contestants affects how they perform) We have bonded a lot. It is like a huge family. We are always with each other 24/7. We see each other all the time, we rehearse with each other. We've become really good friends. We try really hard not to compete with everybody else, but with ourselves. Try to stay focused on what we're going to do to better ourselves in the competition.

    • Alexandrea: (on how she felt about the controversy of experienced performers being on "American Idol") I just don't understand why people make a big deal about it. 'American Idol' has been on this long and it is going to be harder to find real amateurs nowadays. You can't blame [the singers] for trying to venture out and try to catapult their careers. They aren't in a contract now, which is the rule. That's basically all that counts.

    • Alexandrea: (on if she wasfamiliar with the songs she performed on "American Idol") My parents made sure I was well rounded so the '60s and '70s weren't necessarily unfamiliar to me at all. They wanted to make sure I had diversity in my music. Music is music to me. When you are picking songs, it shouldn't be that hard. It should be the one that you feel is you. You know when a song is right for you.

    • Alexandrea: (on why David Archuleta was exceptionally sad to see her go) David and I have known each other for a long time now. We were actually in a [Star Search] competition with each other four years ago. We've become really close friends throughout this whole experience. Our dads hang out and talk all the time. We'd make jokes about how our dads were like Laurel and Hardy. He is a phenomenal singer, he's going to do great.

    • Alexandrea: (on if she was shocked from her elimination) I was kind of surprised. A lot of people were surprised. I heard a lot of, "What? What? No!" in the background behind me from all the other girls. But it is what it is. I enjoyed every minute of it and I don't regret anything. A lot of people were shocked, but that's just how the dice were rolled. You can't argue with the public. I think because this happened it was supposed to happen. I know that I'm going to benefit from it all.

    • Alexandrea: When I was 3 or 4 and I just got a phone in my room and it was my father's birthday and we had some friends from New York to come down and help celebrate his birthday and I was up stairs by myself and I don't know why I felt obligated to press "911" on the phone, so I called "911" and then I hung up, then they called back, then I hung up again, they called again, then I told them all this stuff. I told them my name, I told them this crazy story about saying like, "My dad shot my mom" or something like that and like, "she's bleeding and then he shot himself" or something like that and then they told me to open the door and then I opened the door and then they came in and it was like, "Get on the floor" and like their friends from New York were like scared and my mom came outside and was like, "Where's my husband? Oh my God what is going on?" And then just to make a long story short like they realized I was playing on the phone and I got what I deserved that day.

    • Alexandrea: I don't really have that much of an embarrassing moment. I guess usually when I try to dance; I kinda' look goofy. I usually don't dance, but other than that, no embarrassing moment. I laugh at myself and just throw it out the window.

    • Alexandrea: The weirdest thing I've ever eaten was… Calamari doesn't fit in to that category now, calamari is pretty normal. Oh! I tried this thing my dad said he used to eat when he was a little kid, it's mayonnaise and jelly crackers, it tastes really good though, it tastes like cream cheese you know, I think that is weird though.

    • Alexandrea: I never had a job. My mom didn't even want me to get a job. I wanted to get a job to you know, help out you know, do things for myself, make things easier for my parents, but she said, "Don't worry about it, just stay focus on what you're doing. Your school you know." If I'd have to have a job I'd work in a department store because they get discounts for clothes.

    • Alexandrea: My family is very supportive and they help me a lot especially my father and my mom. Ever since I told them I wanted to sing they were like, "Are you sure? It's a hard thing to go into," but they've helped me so much and they're just really, really supportive.

    • Alexandrea: It might be a surprise, but I am extremely goofy outside of working, but I can be serious when I have to be, but I am just outrageously insane you know, just a big ol' ball of silliness.

    • Alexandrea: (on which "American Idol" contestant she is most like) I honestly don't know, I like to think of myself as my own person, I guess, but as far as personality goes, as far as me being like the other American Idol contestant, I'd have to say, Chris Sligh because he just says stuff, he says random stuff and that's basically how I am as far as personality that's who I'd compare myself with because you know, I'm out spoken, pretty honest. I'll say what I have to say.

    • Alexandrea: (on who her favorite performers are) I love The Beatles, The Beatles, The Beatles, The Beatles. I love John Mayer, Jason Mraz and The Cacosta, Alicia Keys, they are all creative you know, musicians, artists you know, whatever you want to call them. I just love their music styles you know, think outside the box when it comes to their music and their writing styles, and I like learning from them, I love listening to them, my favorites.

    • Alexandrea: I wanna become the next American Idol because I'm a great singer, no, I'm just kidding. I'm not going to be cliché with it. I mean, everybody has the same reason for wanting to be the next American Idol because it's the next American Idol, but I believe I have what it takes to be one because of my talents or performances or how good I can sing. I believe an American Idol is also a person who can represent themselves well, and I believe I can do that and also be a great role model to kids my age or you know, younger, even people a little bit older than me and do things more so for other people than for myself, 'cuz that's basically what an idol is.

    • Alexandrea: Well I wouldn't want to think about that, but I mean there's always an "if." I mean, if I don't become the next American Idol, I'll just take what I've learned through this experience and use it to you know, better myself as a musician and as a person and just to continue on as a musician because that's all I really want to do and all I've grown up just wanting to do, so I'm not gonna quit, I'm not gonna stop, so this is just the first of many experiences for me.

    • Alexandrea: I write songs, music, stories you know. I'm a very artsy, creative person. I also play the piano.

    • Alexandrea: I first started singing when I was 2, 3 years old in my grandfather's church you know, just singing little gospel songs in church for Easter, and things like that.

    • Alexandrea: When I heard that I made the top 24 it was like an indescribable feeling. Paula was playing around like first she said, "I'm sorry 'cuz you have to sing again." Then I said, "Woah!" So it was like my stomach dropped from my chest. I was just so excited; I couldn't even find any words. I was speechless, you know. I was just really, really happy.
