Amanda Loncar

Amanda: I guess it's about how you define yourself and I don't feel defined by my career, although it's a very important aspect of who I am at the end of the day.

Amanda: I had to find a way to balance school with ridiculous sort of rehearsal schedules.

Amanda: I was a huge Mike Nichols fan as a girl growing up, I wanted the opportunity to study with him.

Amanda: You pack your own bags. Basically, however you get there is yours, it's your journey — applies to acting and living — however you get there is yours.

Amanda: I am so lucky to be working with the four actors that I am in-house with on my show.

Amanda: I used to really enjoy playing make-believe games and when I realized make-believe could be a hobby and, perhaps, even a profession, I decided to run with it.

Amanda: I remember at one point my mom had to call the school for me.

Amanda: I believed I was Tess McGill. I wanted to be Tess McGill.

Amanda: In that very early version of the scene, there was a lot more medical jargon. I called my dad for pronunciations. When I ended up getting the job, I think he felt like he was a part of that and obviously he was.

Amanda (about Humboldt, Tennessee): That's where I was born. That's what I consider my hometown to this day.

Amanda: I missed a ton of school.

Amanda: I think everyone believed I was going to college until the very last second. My mother cried.

Amanda: It's a really precious, lovely and rare thing to feel a strong sense of collaboration in this industry in Hollywood and television especially.

Amanda: When anyone asks where I'm from, it's from Humboldt.

Amanda: My mother can be very convincing when she wants to be.

Amanda: I guess it's about how you define yourself and I don't feel defined by my career, although it's a very important aspect of who I am at the end of the day.

Amanda: Obviously I have no recollection of doing these commercials, but apparently I was a child in the shopping cart with my mom, I believe that's how it worked.

Amanda: I think when I was a kid I enjoyed the play element.
