Amy Sherman-Palladino is an American television writer and producer most famous for creating the quirky and witty characters of fictional Stars Hollow in the family dramedy
Gilmore Girls. She, along with husband
Daniel Palladino were the showrunners of the show for six seasons until disagreements with the CW network prompted them to leave the show.
Amy was born in 1966. Although her mother wanted her to become a dancer, Amy joined the comedy group "The Groundlings" in Los Angeles, California after graduating from high school. Aside from her work on
Gilmore Girls, she also wrote for
Roseanne and
Veronica's Closet.
The Return of Jezebel James, another series created by Amy debuted on FOX on March 14, 2008. The show, which starred
Parker Posey and
Lauren Ambrose, was canceled after only three episodes.
