Using the tablet half in his possession, Crowley prepares to make his final move in the grand game against Heaven. Only Dean, Sam, and Kevin can stop him. Meanwhile, Castiel and Metatron join forces and try to stop Naomi's scheme.

Sam, Dean and Castiel are reunited and search the files of the Men of the Letters to find a film that could help them figure out the third trial. Meanwhile, Metatron asks for Castiel's advice about the problems in Heaven, and Crowley delves into the brothers' past... and some familiar faces

Sam and Dean receive a video message from Kevin which leads them to a casino in Colorado, where they find a mysterious recluse that might help them fill in the gaps in Kevin's research. At the same time, Crowley is winning at the tables. Meanwhile, Castiel tries to escape from Naomi and the other angels that are after him.

Dean is concerned about the physical impact the second trial had on Sam, so he insists that Sam stop hunting for a while. When Charlie comes across a case and finds the boys, Dean decides it's time to teach her how to be a hunter. However, the boys suspect she is hiding something from them that could get her killed.

Kevin calls in Sam and Dean when he hears Crowley inside of his mind. The brothers end up turning to Ajay, a Reaper, to help Sam with the second trial of the Tablet. Meanwhile, Naomi secretly visits Dean and gives him vital information, forcing him to seek out Benny's help.

Sam and Dean meet up with an old friend, Krissy Chambers, and discover that a Hunter has taken her and other orphans in and is teaching them how to be Hunters. Dean is suspicious of the Hunter's motives, while Sam is interested in how the man is giving the orphans a home life, something he never had.

Castiel returns and asks Sam and Dean to help him against demons seeking Lucifer's Crypt. When they set out to take on the demons, they rescue Meg, who is being interrogated for information. While Dean and Castiel go to find the Crypt, Sam and Meg fight a rearguard action to hold Crowley off.

Kevin translates the tablet and finds the way to close the gates of Hell. He tells Sam and Dean that in order to do so, one person has to face three tasks designed by God, one of which is killing a hellhound, and the brothers argue about who should complete the tasks.

The brothers look into the death of Rabbi Bass, who spontaneously combusted. Things get complicated when they find out that the rabbi was researching Nazi necromancers. A golem that belongs to the Rabbi's grandson, Aaron, attacks them. However, since Aaron doesn't know how to control him, everyone is in danger.

Sam and Dean look into the deaths of two people involved in Live Action Role Playing (LARP), playing a game named Moondoor. They discover that Charlie Bradbury is involved in the game and soon learn that someone has summoned a fairy to kill his or her enemies.

Naomi informs Castiel that Crowley holds an angel captive and he must save him so that Crowley doesn't learn their secrets. Castiel asks for Dean's help. Sam meets with Amelia, who asks him to chose whether to stay with her or never contact her again.

Sam asks a friend, hunter Martin Creaser, to track Benny just to be on the safe side. However, when Martin gets word of a vampire kill in Benny's neighborhood, he takes things into his own hands, forcing Dean to make a tough choice.

Sam and Dean are surprised to discover that Castiel has escaped from Purgatory, but doesn't remember how. Meanwhile, Kevin and his mother turn to a witch for help against Crowley but she betrays them to the King of Hell.

Dean goes to help Benny, who has run afoul of vampires guarding his Maker. Left alone, Sam thinks about his year of retirement, but is soon called back in when Dean calls him for help.

After a series of brutal murders where the victims had their hearts torn out, the Winchesters track down and locate the killer. However, they soon realize that he's not the only killer and the others are still at large.

Crowley takes Kevin's mother hostage in an attempt to recover Kevin as he searches for the tablet. The Winchesters help Kevin rescue her, only to discover that she insists on joining them on their quest.

One year after their battle with the Leviathans, Sam finally finds his brother Dean, who reveals what happened to him and Castiel in Purgatory. They soon reunite with the prophet Kevin and learn about another Word of God... and an unbelievable opportunity.

Dean and Sam must search for three key items in order to defeat Dick Roman and the Leviathans. Their quest takes them Crowley and the Alpha vampire, but the Leviathans will stop at nothing to kill the Winchesters and put their plan for global domination into effect.

Meg summons Sam and Dean when Castiel wakes up. However, the brothers have other problems on their hands when they get word of a teenager who has been struck by lightning and become a prophet, and may hold the key to defeating the Leviathans.

The brothers get word that Dick Roman has obtained Frank's hard drive and is using an unsuspecting hacker to decrypt it. While the Winchesters try to find her, Bobby tries to help them but finds himself giving in to his rage against the Leviathan CEO.

A ballerina is killed by a pair of cursed dancing shoes, and Dean starts to fall victim to the same curse. However, that's the least of the brothers' concerns when they discover that the store where the shoes were sold has been bought out by Leviathans.
