If Anna did not become an actress, she would have stayed in New Zealand focusing on one of her passions which is photography. She admits that she likes to take candid photographs of random couples.

In 2008, Anna and her brother Andrew put up the film production company Paquin Films. Their first movie release is the romantic comedy Blue State in which she stars with Breckin Meyer.

She has been fighting brain cancer for many years, while her brother Andrew is a film producer.
