Annette O'Toole

In 1983 saw her play the part of Lana Lang in Superman III opposite Christopher Reeve. In 1985 she co-starred with Barry Manilow in the CBS television movie Copacabana. O'Toole played Lola Lamarr to Manilow's Tony Starr. In 1990 she played the adult Beverly Marsh in the horror miniseries based on the Stephen King novel It. She had recurring roles on the television shows Nash Bridges (1996) and The Huntress (2000). She guest-starred on Boy Meets World in 1999. She has also performed in a number of successful theater productions. In October 2001, she returned to the Superman mythos in the role of Martha Kent, Clark Kent/Superman's mother, in the television series Smallville, a role she played until the Season 6 finale. She is thus the only actress ever to play both Superman's girlfriend and Superman's mother.

Annette plays Martha on the great series Smallville. She plays Clark Kent's mother and will try to help build her boy to make the right decisions for his future. Well as Smallville get more deeper and deeper into seasons, it seems she does help him and Clark learns through hard times to control himself. And I think his mother has a lot to do with that, I think Annette played her chracter really good.

Annette O'Toole is a very talented actress. she has played lois lang on the movie superman 3 with christopher reeves.she has great chemistry with the other actors and actresses on the show smallville and does a great job as the teenage clark kents mom.her and john schnieder get along great and she really reminds me of the mom of superman from all of the movies.i hope we continue to see her and all of the other actors and actresses for teh rest of this season and the up coming seasons after this one. she is a great actress and im glad tehy chose her for smallville.

Her role as Martha Kent is a role that was made for her her srtong Presence is what makes her Martha. Now that the show has a new take on Clark, and what she is dealing with Lional Luther you can see that she might have feelings for him. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

I think Annette is very underated. She is unbelieveably talented; fabulous actress. She brings the character of "Ma Kent" alive with such warmth and emotion and integrity.


I don't know how it is for most, but I love listening to the commentary on the Smallville Seasons DVDs because you get a chance to learn about the episodes in depth and the actors and just their thoughts and opinions....I really enjoyed the commentary for Crusade with Annette. You could just hear her passion for acting in her voice in the commentary. She's so funny.

When I first started watching Smallville, Annette was not my favorite actress. But then I learned more and more about her, I began to love her. She is sooo original. She does not change like other actresses in the Hollywood world. She is an actress who I will always have a lot of respect for. I hope her role in Smallville will be a rewarding one.

Great actress, that made a great version of sarah in jewels...in a standard version she gave the movie its best touch...Also like her version of martha that has a bit of an edge comparred to the martha in the louis and clark series..., she is one of the few actors that act with their eyes....

Annette O’Toole is a great actress that has gone from the hot young babe roles into the (hot) middle aged roles with no problem. Now she is playing Superman’s mom on “Smallville” but once she was Lana Lang (in the movies). She has done an incredibly wide range of roles over her career and done them all well.





Now as Martha Kent, who brings a great warmth to the show. She provides a great emotional anchor to the show and to the Kent family.





Many people have played Superman, and more will do, but I can’t imagine anyone doing a better Martha Kent.
