Remembered mostly as Mary Jo on Designing Women, Annie Potts became interested in acting at an early age and studied it at Stephens College in Missouri. Annie Potts was born in Franklin, Kentucky on October 28, 1952. She married her college sweetheart, Steve Hartley, in 1973 and shortly after, was involved in an automobile accident which resulted in Annie's traumatic arthritis and Steve's loss of his leg. Annie divorced Steve in 1978 just as she began to get more acting roles. In 1980, Annie began on her first TV series, Goodtime Girls, with Georgia Engel and Peter Scolari. She also marriedMore her second husband, B. Scott Senechal, that same year. By 1989, Annie had 18 movies under her belt and was ready to enter season 4 of the very successful CBS series Designing Women. And in 1989, Annie's second marriage, from which was born her first son Clay, came to an end. She married for the third time in 1990 and had two more sons (Doc and Harry) with James Hayman. Hayman has been a director on many popular series such as Law & Order, ER, Any Day Now and Judging Amy. In 1998 Annie was cast as Mary Elizabeth on the original Lifetime series Any Day Now with Lorraine Toussaint. She continues a career in movies and television. (by matthewdw)
