Anthony Callea

In 2007, Anthony and radio personality Jo Stanley were runners up in It Takes Two, beaten by Jolene Anderson and David Campbell in the finale.

When Anthony was growing up, he attended and trained with the Johnny Young Talent School.

In March 2007, an intern at the radio station that accidentally outed Anthony was made the scapegoat and sacked from the station, Edge 96.One. While the intern was not involved in the on-air discussion about Anthony and his partner, she was accused of sending an audio file of the conversation to a Sydney newspaper. The intern and the breakfast show's host were suspended for two days, before the intern was fired. The traffic controller who actually outed Anthony, had no action taken against him at all.

In March 2007, Anthony was accidentally outed as being gay by a Sydney journalist. On March 26th, 2007, Anthony ended years of speculation and confirmed the report that he was gay.

In November 2006, Anthony bought two new goldfish and asked fans to name them. They are now called Gin and Tonic!

Anthony was invited to sing for the Queen for Commonwealth Day in 2006.

Between working on albums, Anthony did a fair amount of travelling, visiting London, Sweden and Milan.

In September 2006, Anthony was listed as #50 in TV Week's 'Top 50 most memorable moments on Australian television' list, for his performance of The Prayer on Australian Idol.

Anthony is 5'2" (1.58 m) tall.

Anthony believes all you need to get to stardom are determination and believing in yourself.

Anthony's debut single and rendition of The Prayer held the #1 position in Australia for five consecutive weeks, and is officially the fastest selling and highest selling Australian single of all time.

Anthony has won over 10 awards including "Channel V Artist Of The Year 2005", "2005 ARIA Award - Highest Selling Single Of The Year (The Prayer)", "Number 1 Single of 2005 - Australian End Of Year Chart" and three ARIA Number 1 Awards for 2005.

Anthony has a brother, Matt, and a sister, Christina. His parents are mother, Santina, and father Cosmo.

Anthony's favorite song is The Prayer, by Andrea Bocelli. This was the first song he released after Australian Idol.
