Arye Gross was born March 17, 1960, in Los Angeles, California. Gross graduated from the University of California in Irvine, and later went on to study at the Conservatory of South Coast Repertory. After graduation, Gross joined the South Coast Repertory resident company for three years, and later joined the El Teatro Campesino group for an extra year. His acting career began in theater, and he performed with several Los Angeles-based companies including LATC, Pasadena Playhouse, Odyssey Theater Ensemble, MET Theater and Stages Theatre in dozens of plays. His biggest stage theater accomplishment was when he won a Dramalogue Award for his portrayal of a mentally retarded adolescent in the play Screwball. The actor has also guest-starred in several TV sitcoms including Different Strokes, Knight Rider and Law & Order. Gross had recurring roles on the sitcoms Wildfire and Miss Lonelyhearts. However, Gross is best known for his role of Adam Green on the hit TV sitcom Ellen.
