Ashlie is the daughter of Dr. W.E. and Beth Atkinson of Little Rock, Arkansas. Thrown out of Columbia University at age 19, she graduated from Hendrix College (Conway, AR) and returned to New York in 2001 to attend the Neighborhood Playhouse. A 2003 Playhouse graduate, she was spotted by director Jace Alexander in a school showcase, which led to her role on "Law & Order" and, subsequently, to her recurring role on "Rescue Me". While on hiatus from "Rescue Me" she starred in the Off-Broadway hit "Fat Pig" by Neil LaBute, and filmed Todd Stephens' "Another Gay Movie," is which she plays the 17-year old militant lesbian casanova Muffler. She begins her role in the Spike Lee movie "Inside Man" in July, playing a NYPD officer named Berkeley.

Ashlie is a four-time performer of the AtrainPlays ( and skates for NYC's only Roller Derby league, Gotham Girls Roller Derby ( under the name Margaret Thrasher. She lives in East Harlem.
