She is 158 cm (about 5'2") tall.
Aya has a beauty mole under her left cheek. Her character Konata in Lucky Star also has one.
Aya Hirano is featured on several Making-Of video shoots on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Aya cosplays her title character in some promotional videos. In one video, she is on the rooftop where she talks with an "alien" about how bored she is, and in another video, she is riding on a bus, commenting about wanting to talk with aliens, time travelers, and espers.
As a freshman in college, Aya said that she hated missing classes, but she loved anime and thus loved to sing and voice for it.
Her favorite movie is "Sleeping Beauty."
Aya has been known to give her fans and castmates nicknames. For instance, she regularly calls Minori Chihara, who plays Yuki Nagato in the Haruhi series, "Minorin".

In late 2006, Aya was asked some questions for the popular magazine Newtype. She was given a prop that is used in the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. When asked why she made the pose she did, she said the following:
Aya: As soon as I grabbed the paper, my other hand immediately went to my hip. Haruhi just makes me do things like that. Even during the recordings, I felt like I needed to strike cocky poses right in the middle of the recording booth. But I recently noticed that Haruhi's a bit pigeon-toed, which I think is very lady-like... it's so cute!
