A journalist who began presenting film programmes on British television in 1972, Barry Norman is the son of the late film and television director Leslie Norman. He has also written a few novels. In 1998, he left his regular spot on BBC-TV and moved to Rupert Murdoch's Sky Television at, allegedly, three times his (considerable) BBC salary. However, this move was not, in other ways, a great success, and his TV appearances are now infrequent.
