Burt's parents come to town with the surprising news that he actually is Jewish, prompting Burt to take a musical crash course in his newfound heritage to prepare for the Bar Mitzvah he never had.

Jimmy signs on as an extra after Hope is hired as an actress on Yo Zappa Do, but the show's main star Trevor intends to make Jimmy's life miserable. Meanwhile, Burt tries to pitch a new landscaping design to the show's studio chief, and Maw Maw has a debt to settle with her late ex-husband.

After finding out that their storage locker is up for action, Burt and Virginia come to a realization that their embarrassing home video has ended up in the hands of a couple. Meanwhile, Sabrina tries to find out more about Jimmy's sleepwalking habit.

Barney offers to fly Jimmy and Sabrina to Los Angeles for a taping of Hope's favorite show as a wedding gift, but Jimmy's fear of flying prompts the family to instead embark on a road trip. Meanwhile, Virginia and Burt regret taking in Ricardo Montez as their house guest.

Jimmy is worried when Frank wants to throw him a wild bachelor party because usually Jimmy goes overboard with fun, but Sabrina convinces him to let loose, only to have things go out of control.

Jimmy decides to volunteer for a series of medical experiments in order to earn money for Sabrina's engagement ring, but when he decides on a ring, it turns out to be the engagement ring that Virginia has secretly been pawning off for years.

Jimmy is shocked when he learns that he has a rock-bottom credit score dating back to when he was a child, prompting Burt and Virginia to admit that they had maxed out a credit card in his name and urging them to plead with the bank representative to clear his debt.

Virginia is convinced that the apocalypse is near and she prepares her family for the end of the world. Meanwhile, Jimmy tries to give Hope the best Christmas he can; and Maw Maw has a few things on her bucket list that she needs to cross off.

Sabrina decides to show Jimmy that she is able to take care of Hope on her own. Meanwhile, Burt and Virginia try to trap a squirrel that has been terrorizing other squirrels in the neighborhood.

The Chances decide to compete in a 1K walk dedicated to the Angry Bowel Sydrome cause, but the activity makes Burt and Virginia begin to feel old. Meanwhile, Jimmy has issues supporting Sabrina in an argument with her ex-boyfriend.

At the annual Thanksgiving Radish Harvest Festival, Jimmy goes out of his way to sell the most amount of candy in order to give Hope a chance to ride on the float, but when his plans fall through, Virginia and Maw Maw take it upon themselves to win.

After finding a picture of himself with strange people, Jimmy finds out that his parents gave him up for adoption briefly, and is keen on reconnecting with his would-be bigger brother Brad. Meanwhile, Burt and Virginia contemplate if taking Jimmy back was a good decision seeing as how his temporary family was taking better care of him.

Sabrina asks Jimmy to spend some time with her gay best friend and his partner on Halloween, prompting Jimmy to convince Burt into doing some investigative work at a local gay bar. However, Burt starts spending a lot of time there, causing concern in Virginia. Jimmy, meawhile, is frustrated when Sabrina's friends ask her to carry their baby.

In an effort to find out more about the married life, Sabrina and Jimmy attend a retreat, prompting Virginia and Burt to also join posing as an engaged couple; and Sabrina is surprised when her mother attends with a young lover. Meanwhile, Barney is in charge of babysitting Maw Maw.

The Chances decide to break Maw Maw out of a state nursing facility, but Virginia has second doubts when she sees how good Maw Maw is being treated. Jimmy fears that he might go crazy in his old age, so he tries to get tips from the elderly patients on how to remain sane.

The Chances are in trouble when a social worker suspects they might be guilty of elder abuse judging from some of the ways they try to deal with Maw Maw's antics. Jimmy and Sabrina test the limits in their relationship when he is asked to get rid of his favorite T-shirt.

The Chances attend the funeral of Sabrina's grandmother Nana and meet her mother Tamara. The video will left behind by Nana has a big impact on the future of Jimmy and Sabrina's relationship.

Burt decides to run against a determined woman named Sarah Louise as a chairperson for the church group, but when the woman assigns him with a task of keeping an eye on a pig, Burt realizes that it is much tougher than he thinks when the pig ends up becoming dinner.

Virginia takes on a job as a house sitter for a teenage girl, and when she learns that the girl plans to have sex with her boyfriend, she decides to dispense some motherly advice, and Burt gets involved. Jimmy begins to take advantage of Maw Maw's delusions.

Virginia and Sabrina team up to get rid of a raccoon that starts living under the Chance house porch. Meanwhile, Jimmy is frustrated when his parents suggests he should start spanking a misbehaving Hope; and when Burt reveals another secret from Jimmy's childhood, it brings Jimmy to a new realization.

After participating in an Occupy Natesville protest, Sabrina is sentenced to two weeks in prison, where one of the inmates does their best to make Sabrina's stay the worst experience possible. Meanwhile, Virginia gets a chance of a lifetime when she saves the mayor of Natesville from a public scandal.
