Becki was nominated, along with her Ugly Betty castmates, for a Screen Actors Guild Award in the category of Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2007 and 2008.
Becki appeared in the following TV commercials: Truth (2002), Winterfresh Gum (2002), Nike (2003), Olive Garden Restaurant (2006), and Old Spice Red Zone Body Spray with Richard Keith.
Depending on the success of the show Ugly Betty, she wasn't sure if she'll be able to attend her 10-year high school reunion in Guilford in the fall 2006.
Becki Newton: My character (on Ugly Betty) would never be caught dead wearing an outfit twice. That's where we differ. I think the idea of not getting photographed in the same outfit twice is archaic.
(on playing Amanda in "Ugly Betty")Becki Newton: This is my dream role - I've always loved comedy. I'm not afraid to go completely over the top. A lot of people are scared to seem silly or to embarrass themselves and I really don't have that at all – I don't mind making a fool of myself. I like to just have fun and really go for it.
(on the worst fashion crime one can commit)Becki Newton: Cutting your own hair. I know because I've done it. In high school I cut 10 inches off. It was a bowl cut.
(describing herself as a kid)Becki Newton: Kinda brainy, a little artsy, had a bowl haircut that I did myself. Had some green Doc Martens boots that I wore with everything. I wasn't the coolest kid on the block, but I did my own thing.
(on preferring comedy over drama)Becki Newton: I find that I tend to not have a lot of dignity. I kind of don't mind falling flat on my face, I don't get embarrassed easily - I think that lends itself to comedy. I make myself laugh all day long and I think when an actor's having fun, people will have fun watching that person.
(on playing Amanda in "Ugly Betty")Becki Newton: When I got the script for Ugly Betty, I just thought of every person I'd ever met in the New York fashion world and went into each audition imitating them. There very over-the-top characters really do exist. I've met them.
Becki Newton: (on how she met her husband) We walked by each other and I started laughing because he was cute and he busted me checking him out. Then I felt a little tap on my shoulder (and he said), 'Excuse me, I think I might be lost. This area's very confusing, maybe we should just figure this out together.
(about "Ugly Betty")Becki Newton: What started as a superficial nasty girl is now the nightmare insecure girl at the office - we get to see why Amanda is the way she is, I was happy sitting at a desk snarling at everyone. The fact I get to do more is icing on the cake.
(about how different "Ugly Betty" is from what she had played)Becki Newton: It was a real character part, I was always playing nice girls. This was so much more fun. I'm never going back to playing nice girls again.
