Both of her parents were born in South Korea, making her a second generation immigrant.

Although she grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, she currently (as of September 2006) lives in Washington, D.C.

She likes to play beach volleyball, football, and tennis.

She is a trained, and has worked as, a kickboxing instructor.

She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in women's studies.

She is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

She played varsity tennis while in high school.

While in college, she was on the Women's Boxing team.

She was elected president of the Asian Law Students Association at Pitt.

She is a member of the Pittsburgh Asian American Young Professional Association.

She earned her JD (juris doctorate) degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

She graduated from the University of Michigan.

She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Clairton, Pennsylvania.
