Although Beverlee was saddened by the passing of former Guiding Light co-star Michael Zaslow, she admits that the two "were never friends, never got along, and never enjoyed working together."
After leaving Guiding Light in 1992, Beverlee showed up on rival soap opera General Hospital, where he son Scott was directing. She admits that she took the gig only for the medical insurance.
In 1998 Beverlee had a kidney transplant.
Beverlee's favorite storyline while on Guiding Light was when her character, "Alexandra", was trapped on a desert island with "Fletcher", played by Beverlee's good friend Jay Hammer.
Beverlee was married to actor Berkeley Harris until his death in 1984. The couple met while working together on the soap Love is a Many Splendored Thing.
In 1992 famed soap writer, Michael Logan, wrote that Beverlee "makes Greta Garbo look like a chatterbox". The actress almost never gave interviews.
Beverlee is very close friends with actor Jay Hammer. The two starred together on Texas and Guiding Light.

Beverlee admits that she has never watched Guiding Light although she appeared on the soap for nearly eight years.
Beverlee's son, Scott McKinsey, is a well-known soap opera director, who has worked on General Hospital, Port Charles, and Search for Tomorrow.
Beverlee: (on her shocking departure from "Guiding Light") If they're bent out of shape it's because, for once, somebody beat 'em at their own game!
Beverlee: One of the reasons why I never give an interview is that I am extremely private, and the other reason is that I'm outrageously opinionated and honest, so I'm apt to say something that people will take offense to.
Beverlee: I love being hated!
Beverlee: The fact that I am a private person and that I don't seek out publicity, does not mean that I'm not really a part of this industry.
