Whether you know him as "Super" Dave Osborne or Marty Funkhouser on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bob Einstein has been making generations laugh with his TV characters. He got his start in show business writing for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
Einstein's everyman face, poker-straight expression and occasionally cracking voice lent themselves to his delightfully unhip portrayal of Office Judy on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour but he had such an anonymous look about him that he could go unrecognized elsewhere. He appeared on The Steve Allen Comedy Hour in the late 1960s, along with much of the SmoBro cast (as themselves), posing as a CBS censor, and was booed by the audience as he argued in favor of censorship, becoming more and more heated as it became clear he was losing the argument, and finally bursting out with an expletive which was, of course, deleted.
