Bobby Burgess

5/19/1942 , Long Beach, California

Birth Name

BOBBY began dancing when he was 4 years old. By the age of 11, he had appeared on 75 TV shows in Los Angeles. At the age of 13, he became a MOUSKETEER and did so for the next 4 years. He was one of 50 boys who tried out for the SPIN and MARTY roles for WALT DISNEY'S SPIN and MARTY TV series.

At a dancing school in LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA, his teacher paired him with MISS BARBARA BOYLAN for ballroom dancing. They entered many dancing contests across the country. They scored a major triumph when they were named the King & Queen of CALL'S GRAND MEDAL BALL. Over 11,000 people had entered this contest. They then entered the CALCUTTA DANCE CONTEST created by LAWRENCE WELK. This led to an appearance on MR. WELK'S show in April of 1961. A large amount of fan mail was sent to the show wanting to see the coupe dance again. This led to their being hired as regulars on the show 6 months later. BARBARA left the program in 1967 to get married. BOBBY found a new partner in CISSY KING.

In 1971 he married KRISITE FLOREN, daughter of MYRON FLOREN (WELK accordianist). CISSY left in 1978 and he found another partner in ELAINE BALDEN of DALLAS, TEXAS. They presently teach the art of dancing.
